My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Cajun!

The lovable 3-year-old Boxer mix weighing 62 lbs, with a heart as big as his love for long walks and great sniffs! Cajun is ready to bring warmth and companionship into your home, filling every day with adventure and affection.
Cajun is a friendly and sensitive soul, known for his gentle nature and love for exploring the great outdoors. His enthusiasm for long walks and new discoveries makes him the perfect companion for outdoor adventures.

If there are children in his forever home, Cajun would probably do best with kids aged 10 to 13 years old and older. His friendly demeanor and gentle disposition make him a great match for families with older children who can appreciate his calm and loving nature.
Cajun would need a very slow intro when meeting new dogs. He also wouldn't mind being the only dog in the home. He would enjoy a low-key companion dog rather than a play mate.
Cajun's future home will be one filled with love, exploration, and plenty of outdoor adventures as he continues to spread joy to everyone he meets. With the right match, he's sure to become an integral part of the family and bring happiness to all.

Ready to welcome the gentle spirit and adventurous nature of Cajun into your life? Call 330-487-0333 ext 226 to schedule an appointment and provide him with the loving and understanding home he deserves. Your forever friend is just a call away!

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

All of our adoptable animals are up-to-date on all age appropriate vaccinations, spayed or neutered, de-wormed, de-flea and microchipped before adoptions are finalized. All dogs over six months of age receive a temperament assessment by our Certified Professional Dog Trainer to ensure appropriate placement. Also, many animals in our care receive basic obedience training to improve manners and increase adoptability.

We are currently doing adoptions by appointment only. Please contact us by phone at (234) 212-9843 or email at adoptions@summithumane.org, and an adoption counselor will return your message. They will review our adoption process, answer any questions, and tell you more about the animals currently available for adoption at our shelter and in our foster program. If we have a match for you and your family, an appointment will be scheduled to meet the animal.

Additional questions can be directed to our adoption team at (234) 212-9843.

More about this shelter

Since 1968, the Humane Society of Summit County (HSSC) has been the trusted caretaker and advocate for Summit County’s victims of animal abuse, neglect, and abandonment and stray animals suffering from illness and injury. We employ two full-time Humane Officers who respond to emergency calls, investigate animal cruelty, and, as warranted, prosecute offenders. We protect and care for our community’s abused, discarded, and forgotten animals. We strive every day to rehabilitate our rescued animals, find them great homes, and provide them with bright futures.
