My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

I am the gorgeous two-year-old girl Madeline, and I will tell you that I have quite a bit to say, and I am not just talking about here in writing; I can be a talker. When you come into my room, I will ask about how your day is going and tell you about all the gossip here at the shelter, and believe me, there is a lot to say. I have so many young cats in my room, and I'll admit that sometimes they can get a bit on my nerves, but that is more my fault than theirs. I normally get along with cats. I am just having a bit of a tough time emotionally at the moment, so I have been having some mood swings. See, I've been through some really sad things recently which have affected my mood.

I had been living a great life full of love and comfort when my human suddenly died. It was a huge shock to all of us, especially me as I couldn't help her in any physical way. I was completely devastated. I would hide when people finally started coming to the house, so many people didn't even know I was there to feed. It took a tenacious neighbor to find me and help me get the help I so desperately needed after experiencing such a loss. Luckily, they brought me here to Max Fund.

I was terrified and depressed when I first arrived and hid under my bed for most of the first few days, but now, thanks to the attention and care I am getting, I am starting to feel much more safe and comfortable. People tell me how cute I am with a gorgeous black coat with white feet and chest- a girl's gotta accessorize. I am also starting to enjoy being petted, but just be sure I am comfortable with you first as sometimes my defense instincts take over, and I might lash out a bit, but please don't take it personally. I am getting much better, especially being next to the window where I can curl up in my warm bed and enjoy all the happenings outside. I hope you come in and meet me and give me the chance at a forever home that I want so badly. I promise that I will fill your life with love and in -depth conversations.

More about this shelter

The MaxFund is a non-profit organization that was established in May of 1988 to provide medical care for injured pets with no known owners, and to seek out new homes for these animals once they have recovered. The MaxFund is a no-kill dog and cat shelter. MaxFund assists hundreds of people and animals each year by trying to make the correct match between owner and pet. MaxFund adopts our animals to Colorado residents only.

The MaxFund is a TRUE no-kill shelter. There is no pre-sorting of animals into "adoptable" and "non-adoptable" categories, discarding the so-called "unadoptable." The MaxFund takes every animal it has the space for. EVERY animal is kept until its owner is found or it is placed in a new adoptive home.
