Additional adoption info

If you are interested in viewing or adopting any of our animals please contact us either by email or checking out our website www.mldhs.petfinder.com Fill in the online adoption application form and we will get back to you with your status via email, usually within 24-48 hours. Breeders need not apply as all animals adopted from us must be Altered.

All animals old enough and ready for adoption by the MLDHS will be spayed or neutered prior to adoption. If the animal is not old enough for altering, you can bring it back to the Vet Clinic of OUR CHOICE by the date noted on the Adoption Contract for the procedure for altering at no extra cost. If the animal is too young to be altered at time of adoption we require a spay/neuter deposit which is refundable upon proof of surgery being provided to MLDHS. If you choose to have this done at a vet other than our local vets that we use in Meadow Lake, the cost of the altering surgery and shots not given prior to adoption will be at the extra expense of the adopter.

Vaccinations: Animals may have already received their first shots. If they have not received their booster or rabies, you are responsible for ensuring that they receive these shots.
Dogs $200.00, with possible additional charges if they have received extra veterinary care.
Cats $80.00, with possible additional charges if they have received extra veterinary care.

Go meet their pets

All of our animals can be viewed online at www.mldhs.petfinder.com or our Facebook page
Most will be at our shelter located in Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan, 14 Commercial Crescent unless in foster care.

You can also see more photos and likely more up to date information (particularly with respect to cats) on our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/mldhs. We are 100% volunteer run, so an appointment to view animals is required as there are no regularly staffed shelter hours. WE NO LONGER HAVE A PHONE - EMAIL AND FACEBOOK MESSENGER ARE THE ONLY METHODS OF CONTACT.

More about this rescue

The Meadow Lake & District Humane Society was formed in the summer of 2003. The MLDHS is an animal welfare organization dedicated to rescuing homeless, unwanted, and abandoned pets. Our other main objective is to spread the spay/neuter message in an effort to prevent overpopulation.
All of our income is derived from memberships, donations, adoption fees, and income from doing pound maintenance for the Town of Meadow Lake. We look after all impounded dogs from the town of Meadow Lake.
