My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Tristan is a delightful older gentleman looking for a lap (or two) to call his own.  He has obviously had a loving home at some point as he is house trained, very gentle and gets along well with other dogs. He recently fell on hard times for unknown reasons and was picked up as a stray. His teeth were in terrible shape, and most had to be removed. But, he is first in line and meal times and a full member of the clean plate club!  Tristan likes to potter around in the yard and enjoy the sun. As soon as you sit down he will climb into your lap - his favorite place to be.  He is an all round good boy, and no trouble at all. As an older gentleman Tristen is hard of hearing but he is great at looking at you for cues so it is difficult to tell he does not hear well. Tristen does take medicine for a thyroid condition.  He takes 2 pills per day with his food.

Tristan has been neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. His adoption fee of $350 helps offset the cost of medical expenses. If you live in the Phoenix metro area and think Tristan could be the right fit for you, please complete an adoption application*: https://helpadogsmile.org/adoption-application

*Please note that the application is not a commitment to adopt–it is a tool used to help determine if a dog and applicant would make a good match. Applications are forwarded to the foster family for review and follow-up.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Adoption is a lifetime commitment. After an application and a verbal interview is completed and it is determined that the adoption is a compatible match, a contract is signed with specific guidelines. An adoption fee (usually between $250-$500) to help off-set medical, feeding and Rescue costs is collected. The contract states that at any time the adoption does not work out, the dog is to be returned to our Rescue group for alternate placement. The dog is not to be 'given away' or 'rehomed' or 'taken to the pound'. If there are other dogs in the home, they must meet prior to adoption. All family members in the household have to agree to the adoption. No dog is to be adopted as a 'gift'. No out of state adoptions.
