My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Martha is the absolute sweetest 11yo female, waiting for that loving retired life. She sleeps most the day and is so excited to see you when you come through the door. Her tail wags while she sleeps, and she loves to keep you company in every room. She is the ultimate companion. She has not barked once, and moves at a slow pace. She is a bit bigger than a normal beagle at 50lbs, but that doesn't stop her from wanting to be your best friend. Her foster home thinks she's the perfect balance between cuddly and independent. She likes to rest her head on your legs, but also likes time to herself to sleep all day.

Martha is completely housetrained. She can hold her bladder for quite a while. As she gets older, we wouldn't recommend leaving her at home alone for more than 8 hours, then she might have an accident in the house. She really needs a home with no stairs, her hips are a little slow moving and she is too heavy to carry up and down stairs. She also needs a human that can lift her in and out of a car, Martha cannot jump in and out of a car very easily. Martha still has a lot of life left in her, she has just discovered dog toys and wants to play. She gets along with her two foster beagle brothers and sisters, cats unknown, but Martha moves so slow the chances of her catching a cat are slim. I think she'd be best in a home without kids, because she doesn't like to be snuck up on while sleeping. She walks very slow on a leash, she doesn't pull, in fact you kind of have to pull her to get her to walk.

Martha is going to be the best friend you never knew you needed. She is so loving, and I swear she smiles at you. She'll melt your heart with her wagging tail and beautiful eyes. Will you please give Martha that retirement home life with a best human friend?

Martha does NOT have heartworm, she is spayed, had 3 mammary tumors removed and needs a dental before she goes to her new home which she is scheduled for on April 1st.

Additional adoption info

Steps to adopt a beagle from Tampa Bay Beagle Rescue:

Read about the beagle breed to be sure this dog matches your lifestyle and personality. While we think beagles are terrific dogs, we know that no one breed is perfect for every single family. Many people adopt or purchase beagles because they are small and friendly without ever finding out more about the breed. We encourage anyone who is considering adding a beagle to their family to learn all they can about these stubborn, playful hounds!
Submit an on-line application. Just fill out the application on-line and we will automatically be notified. If you need to, you can save your application and finish it later.
Choose to receive information from us. In your settings, you have the option to receive emails and regular mail from us. Click these options to receive updates about dogs available for adoption and upcoming events such as adoption days, special activities and fundraising events.
Approval of the application is based on phone interviews and a reference & Vet check. It usually takes us 7-10 days to approve an application, but when we are very busy, it can take a little longer. Thanks for your patience!
Visit with the beagles! After you are approved, you can visit with the dogs at adoption events, usually scheduled once or twice a month. Adoption events are open to the public, but only preapproved applicants will be able to adopt the same day. (We recommend submitting the application at least 10 days in advance to ensure it is approved in time.)
