My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Ruger is a one-year and 8 month old purebred Weimaraner who is very affectionate, enthusiastic, energetic, and independent. He wants to please and loves to be in contact with his family. He does take a little time to warm up to new people but once you have gained his trust, he will want to follow you everywhere you go.
While Ruger hasn't had much training, he is very smart and learns quickly. He comes from a line of very good bird dogs. He has good recall and walks pretty well on a leash. If he sees something that he wants to chase, he will pull. He does tend to jump up on people so care must be taken around small children. He is dog door trained but is not crate trained. Although, he has been crated several times.
Ruger really enjoys spending time outdoors and because of his love of the outdoors and his energy level, he needs a large fenced yard or daily walks and weekend hikes.
He tends to be the alpha, but he is good with other dogs. He has not had personal interaction with cats.
With a little training, Ruger will make someone a great dog that will do anything for his forever family. Check out United Animal Friends Dog Training Program. Each one hour class is only $10 and half of the proceeds are donated to United Animal Friends. Register at meetup.com/UnitedAnimalFriends.

Our adoption fee helps cover expenses (vaccinations, microchips, spay/neuter, food, housing) for the homeless pets we rescue. UAF does not adopt or ship outside the state of Arizona. To ensure the best fit, UAF conducts a home visit to meet other pets and verify a safe, secure yard.

If you have any questions or to adopt a dog an application must submitted. Filling out this form does not obligate you to adopt, but gives us the information needed to make sure the pet is suited to your home.

HOW TO APPLY: From Petfinder.com The fastest way to get to the adoptable dog page is to copy and then paste this link into your browser: https://unitedanimalfriends.org/adoptable-dogs/

When you are on the UAF website Select "Adoptable Dogs" and pick the dog you are interested in. To apply to adopt, go into the dog's profile, and click the gray "Apply for Adoption" button to get started.

More about this rescue

United Animal Friends (UAF) is a volunteer-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit group founded in 2003. Our mission is to provide rescue programs and services to animals and those who care for them. In addition to rescuing, spaying and neutering, fostering, and finding homes for dogs and cats, UAF provides many services for residents of Yavapai County and their pets. Our Spay/Neuter Certificate Program, Community Pet Food Bank and Emergency Medical Program help hundreds of people and pets each year.
