My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Star is a stray who was brought to the shelter by a Good Samaritan. She is roughly 6 months old, American Staffordshire Terrier/Lab mix, current with vaccinations and heartworm negative. She is very sweet, but shy . She does warm up quickly and is then ready to play and have a good time. She walks well on a leash, good with kids and so far good with other dogs at the shelter. We will spay and chip when adopted or fostered.

All of our animals are adopted as indoor pets with outdoor privileges. Our adoption fee for dogs is $100. Adoption fee for cats is $45. Filling out of adoption form is required.

We adopt out of state and will work with reputable rescues.

All phone calls will be returned within a 24 hour period.

The shelter is open to the public Tuesday - Friday from 9-2 and on Saturdays from 9-12. Or by appointment.

We will make arrangements for meet and greets outside of Washington if necessary.

Washington Wilkes Animal Shelter is a small, open door shelter. We strive to save every adoptable animal that is surrendered, orphaned, abandoned, abused and neglected. All animals are spayed/neutered at time of adoption, vaccinated. All dogs are heartworm tested/treated at time of adoption.

All procedures administered to the shelter animals are funded solely on donations. We are in constant need of monetary donations to continue the vetting of these animals.
