My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Remember that cool uncle who you loved to have babysit you when you were a little kid? He used to let you drive around the parking lot sitting in his lap, stay up really late watching scary movies, and eat pizza and ice cream for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Well, Poncho is that guy. He is a fun, chill, happy dude who is always ready for a little thrill but not so much that anyone gets hurt. He loves galloping around the backyard, napping on the porch, and getting big hugs from his people. He is a bit hard of hearing (too many years of listening to that country music pounding in the pickup truck) so he responds best to a gentle touch and delicious smells (did you say food?) to get him pointed in the right direction. He is crate trained and can walk on a leash and gets along with everyone he meets. Hurry out now to say hello to Uncle Poncho, the best hound in town.
We additionally wanted to add that Poncho is available to prior adopters at no fee. He is a sweet and easy going guy who simply deserves a home ASAP and we want to help him find that!

Recent Weekend Host commented: "He got along well with our other dogs." "He loved everyone he met, was great with our boys, was always up for a belly rub, and had moments of silly playing with toys. " "He seems to like riding in the car, he was just happy to hang and usually fell asleep." " Poncho was happy to walk on a loose leash most of the time." "No problems with him peeing or marking in the house!"

Additional adoption info

All puppies and dogs at Saving Grace are crate trained, have been spayed/neutered, are up to date on their vaccines, are on heartworm preventative and have been microchipped. Their adoption fee is $350.00. Each has been carefully screened for disposition and temperament in order to provide your home with a safe companion that will enjoy life as your new family member.

If you are interested in meeting one of our dogs, please complete an Adoption Application at our website: savinggracenc.org

Sending an Application does not commit you to an adoption, it simply provides us with background information on potential homes. Please review our Adoption Contract before sending an Application to ensure that you will be able to provide the requirements stated in the contract. The Contract must be signed at the time of adoption.

Saving Grace is a small, non-profit 501-C3 organization operated by volunteers only. Most of our animals come from rural animal control shelters where lack of space and resources limit their time and adoption possibilities. Thank you for choosing Saving Grace! We look forward to helping you find your new companion and family member.

More about this rescue

Located in central North Carolina and officially established in 2004, Saving Grace has placed over 15,000 dogs into homes since its inception. These dogs were from rural animal control facilities with little resources and who would otherwise not had the opportunity to receive necessary veterinary care and a chance at adoption. While we have grown significantly over the years and have been successful growing our numbers we still see many great dogs miss the opportunity of adoption.

We have a large variety of dogs varying in breed, size, shape, age and needs and would love to work with you to find you a great dog companion while providing a dog in need with a loving home. Our dogs are chosen based on temperament and socialization. We get some of the most charming, unique mix breeds as well as some striking purebreds. Our dogs come from rural, underserved areas and while they may have little experience as an indoor family member, they have the temperament and personality that is sure to bring much love and appreciation to their new home. Most have started their crate training while in our program. Veterinary care including spay/neuter, microchip, heartworm test, vaccinations, monthly preventatives are provided prior to each adoption. If you would like more information about adopting one of our dogs, please email savinggrace@savinggracenc.org
