My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi â€‹kind humans! I'm Ruby, the bubbly 1-year-old, 50 pound female lab/terrier mix bursting with love and excitement. You know, I absolutely adore snuggling up with my humans and getting lots of pets and cuddles. It's the best feeling in the world! But don't let that fool you, I also know how to be a good girl and sit quietly when I'm told. I was pulled from a shelter in Texas and now I’ve made my way to Michigan to find my fur-ever family!

Car rides? Oh, I'm all about them! I'm super chill in the car and love feeling the wind on my face. And walks? Well, they're basically the highlight of my day. When I see my harness, I can hardly contain my excitement! Sometimes I get so worked up that I just plop right over, but hey, that's part of the fun, right? I love every dog I meet along the way. I may get a little too eager when I spot squirrels or other critters, but I promise I won't pull on the leash because being by your side is where I want to be.

My foster Mom has been taking me to school with her and she said I’m a perfect angel! I sit quietly during the loud band practice, and afterward I love it when the kids bombard me with so many pets, it’s more than I could have even dreamed of when I was in the shelter!

All in all, I'm just a sweet, loving pup who can't wait to find my forever home. I have so much love to give, and I know I'll bring so much joy and happiness to whoever decides to make me a part of their family. Could it be you?

I’m completely housebroken, crate-trained, fixed, up-to-date on vaccines, and microchipped and my adoption fee is $300. If you have any questions or want to learn more about me, please email projecthoperescue@gmail.com. Ready to welcome me into your home? Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We require that the interested adopter come to meet the dog and then fill out an adoption application. We will review the application and then pass on to the dog's foster family (if applicable). We then contact the potential adopter's vet and we will also do a home visit. If all goes well, the adopter signs our adoption contract stating that, among other things, the dog will receive regular vet care and must be returned to us if things do not work out.

More about this rescue

We focus primarily on rescuing senior and special needs dogs in kill facilities. We are located on 30 acres of land in rural southern Michigan. We are a care-for-life facility, so any dog that does not or that we deem cannot be adopted will live with us for the rest of his/her life. Because we rescue the dogs that are not in high demand, it normally takes our dogs longer to find that perfect family. We believe that it takes a special family to adopt our special dogs.
