My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

To meet Opal, please submit an application at www.thehausofdogs.com/adopt .

Opal is a sweet and gentle soul whose submissive demeanor transforms into pure joy and excitement when surrounded by her canine companions. Despite spending months in the shelter, Opal's resilient spirit shines through, capturing the hearts of volunteers with her gentle nature and willingness to receive affection and treats.

Although initially shy and timid, Opal's true personality blossoms when she's given the opportunity to interact with other dogs, instantly becoming a new dog filled with happiness and excitement at the prospect of making new friends.

Witnessing Opal's transformation from a shy pup to a playful and exuberant companion is a testament to the profound impact that love and companionship can have on a rescue dog's life. With each wag of her tail and bounce of her step, Opal radiates a contagious enthusiasm that brings joy to all who encounter her. Her eagerness to meet every dog she encounters is a testament to her loving and sociable nature, making her the perfect addition to any family seeking a furry friend who will bring endless laughter and happiness into their lives.

With her playful personality, and boundless capacity for love, Opal is ready to embark on a new chapter of her life filled with warmth, companionship, and the comfort of a loving family. If you're ready to open your heart and home to a deserving companion, consider giving Opal the chance to flourish in a loving environment, where she can continue to brighten the lives of those around her with her infectious charm and unwavering devotion.

More about this rescue

We opened in December 2019 as a dog cafe. 3 months later we had to shut down due to Covid. We resumed operations in December 2020 but are solely doing adoptions. We hope to reopen the cafe sometime in the future. Our CEO has 3 dogs that she adopted from a shelter. Her experience at a high-kill shelter inspired her to start a halfway home for dogs while searching for their forever home. Our dogs spend a considerable amount of time playing with one another, thanks to proper introduction and close supervision during playtime. We only take in a small number of dogs to ensure each one gets plenty of one-on-one time with us. This also allows us to work with more fearful/shy/reactive dogs and adopt them out once they’re ready.
