Rylie is soon to be "paw-roled" from our Paws in the Pen program in partnership with the New Mexico Corrections Department! Each dog is paired with two inmate trainers and enrolled in a 24/7 8-week training program that is designed to equip the dog with a nice foundation of training that will help them succeed in their new home. Each of these dogs will go home potty and crate trained with a whole list of cues and basic behaviors; to ensure a successful adoption, we are providing four training sessions to adopters, so you can learn what your dog knows, and an invitation to weekly discounted drop-in classes. These dogs also go home with a biothane leash and collar, 6 months of heartworm prevention, are fully up-to-date on all vaccines and medications, and are spayed and neutered.
Rylie is the sweetest little love muffin, with the funniest personality. She came in with her litter of pups, who were old enough to be separated and put into foster. She was significantly under weight and is now looking really healthy, with a beautiful shiny coat. She was selected for the program to help her gain a little confidence to better navigate new experiences. This brave girl is now is doing great, and has a lovely tendency to look to her people for comfort. When she's settled in, Rylie will show you all her goofiness and spunk, and she has the cutest prance when she is feeling good and on a roll. She is getting more comfortable with other dogs, she plays well with the other dogs in the program, and would likely do fine in a household with a cat if introduced properly. Rylie is ready to prance right into your homes and hearts.
