My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.

* If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.

This dog will be at a meet and greet event on Saturday, April 6th at the Palo Alto Pet Food Express from 12-3pm, unless he/she is set up and adopted prior to the event. Those interested in meeting the dog can come out to our meet and greet event. We no longer do application approval onsite. Anyone adopting has been previously approved and set up to meet prior to the event.

Adoption Fee: $700

The Pasta Puppies are a litter of 8 week old Dachshund x Yorkie mixes who are serving up cuteness and puppy kisses! The litter is 1 boy and 3 girls. These babies came to us with Mama Pasta from a hoarding situation with 12 other dogs. We arrived expecting a few adults and instead were met with puppies, Mama, and their friends. Well, we refused to leave anyone behind so these babies came with us and started their new lives! Mama was a 9 pound fluffy gal, so we expect these puppies to be in the 12-20 pound range when fully grown.

Alfredo: Alfredo (Alfie) is the snuggliest puppy of the bunch and is the first to “melt” into your lap. She weighs 7.5 pounds as of March 27. She is extremely affectionate and loves belly rubs as she gives kisses. She also loves getting her zoomies out in the yard as she races around on her little legs, chasing after her siblings as they play tug of war with their ever growing pile of toys. Alfie loves anything with a squeaker and is often found crawling under a table with a toy she has snatched from one of her littermates as she squeaks it in victory. Alfredo would love to cuddle forever with her new people!

Carbonara: Carbonara (Carb) may be little but she has no idea! She weighs 5 pounds as of March 27. This girl is a natural explorer and loves romping around the yard sniffing everything there is to encounter. Carb can hold her own against her bigger siblings and has adorable little puppy growls as she plays with toys. Carb loves to take a running start and tumble into the laps of her foster parents, pawing at their hands when they stop petting her before she decides they are done. Carbonara is usually at the bottom of the cuddle pile but is happy to shake off her siblings when she decides the time for rest is over. She loves all things nature, from leaves and sticks to grass and critters. Carbonara will make any home tastier, and that is a five star promise!

Marinara: Marinara (Mary) is the leader of the pack as the largest of the litter, but she leads with a quiet confidence. She weighs 10 pounds as of March 27. She loves to play and wrestle with her siblings but also loves making them chase her across the yard. Mary loves stuffed toys and her favorite toy is a mini Lamb Chop which she will zoom around happily with until she is ready for a long nap. Mary was the most cautious at first when trying new things, but she has found that spending an afternoon curled up in the lap of her foster parent means hours of snuggles and kisses. Marinara is the most like her Mama temperament wise, and we know she is going to be a lovely addition to her forever home. Any day with Marinara promises to be a Mary one!

Pesto: Pesto may be the solo boy of the litter but he doesn’t let his sisters keep him down! He weighs 6 pounds as of March 27. This confident and charismatic dude leads the way in daily zoomies and snuggles. One minute, he is chasing his sister across the lawn and the next he is crashing into your lap for cuddles. He helped his sisters realize how amazing snuggle time is and flops on top of them when everyone is ready for a nap. Pesto is a true gentleman and gives sweet kisses to his many admirers, winning even the staunchest #TeamCat person over with his soulful eyes and wagging tail. Pesto promises that you will fall in love with him faster than you can say P(r)esto!

The puppies sleep overnight in their crate until around 7 AM when their foster parents start their day. They head straight outside to the backyard for potty and playtime before breakfast is served in their pen. Weather permitting, the puppies love to spend their morning playing outside with their toys as they zoom around. They then take a long nap in a cuddle pile until they are ready to play again. After lunch, they spend some time napping in their pen while their foster parents work. When everyone comes home, they head right back outside for more playtime. They LOVE the backyard. They have dinner at 6 PM followed by romping and playtime in the kitchen. They spend the evening snuggling on the couch watching TV and getting kisses until they go to bed at 10 PM.

The puppies live with a large breed dog and a cat and do well with all animals. They will need continued socialization and training to ensure they are confident and curious adults. They are quintessential puppies in that they are playful when awake and loungey when ready for naps. They would love a yard and a companion in their new home but could thrive in any environment as long as they have love and affirmation! The Pasta puppies promise to provide a culinary adventure for the homes that adopt them!

Interested homes must have owned a dog in the last 5 years. We will be prioritizing homes who currently own dogs. Kids in the home should be over the age of 8.
