My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

TANK NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!!

Name: Tank        Best Guess for Breed: Lab mix

Best Guess for Age:  1 year as of March 2024        SEX: Male

Approximate Weight:  50 lbs

Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen him with kids or cats but he can be tested

Currently Living at:   South Carolina shelter; needs a foster or forever home in the DC area to get his freedom ride up here!

Tank is Looking For:  He would like an explanation. Why is his name Tank, he wants to know. If he were a mastiff - a larger Rottweiler - a Dogue de Bordeaux - well, maybe that'd be ok. But he's a nicely proportioned lab mix just about fifty pounds. But that's not high on his priority list. He's eager to have his own humans for all those romps in parks and adventures they can dream up - as a lab mix, he wants to find out if he loves swimming and running as much as his breed is supposed to. Quality kibble and a cushy dog bed are on that list as well. But right at top? Knowing he's safe and loved and under his own roof under all his days.

He's got quite a lot to offer in exchange - loyal companionship, adoring gazes, smarts - he's the total package. What do you say? Is Tank the one you see trotting (not rolling!) by your side?

What My Foster Says About Me:   We will update this once he has arrived in the DC area and spent some time with his foster

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

The adoption process begins when you submit an adoption application either online or at an adoption event. The individual responsible for the dog you are interested in adopting - a position we call the “adoption coordinator” - will then set up a time to discuss your application over the telephone. The adoption coordinator will check your vet reference to make sure all current and past pets were kept up-to-date with their shots and medical care. The adoption coordinator will also set up a home visit with one of our trained volunteers. That individual will come to your home to ensure that it is a safe environment, to confirm that everyone in the home is on board with adopting a dog, and to discuss any other questions you may have about dog adoption!

Our adoption events are held each weekend. A schedule of times and locations can be found at www.luckydoganimalrescue.org.
