My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Gretchen!

Adorable Gretchen had a rough start with an abusive owner. Once confiscated she entered a wonderful foster home who have shown her so much love! She is ready for a loving home that will always take care of her and in return, you will be so rewarded.

What's wonderful about Gretchen?

She has a lovely soft coat and loves to play fetch or play with soft squeaky toys. She loves her walks but also likes being a couch potato and wants to snuggle under a blanket with you. She is fully potty trained and sleeps through the night. She is a big kisser and a cuddle bug. Gretchen rides well in the car and is good with baths.

Gretchen's challenges:

She is a bit reactive on leash towards other dogs. This needs work and we can guide you with that. Reactivity is often a sign of fear and as she learns to be more confident, this behavior will diminish. Gretchen can also be protective of her fave people. She is a bit wary of strangers and it takes her a minute to warm up. Once she loves you and trusts you, she is the sweetest cuddler.

She has a bit of separation anxiety. She can be alone for 4 or so hours, but will cry a bit at first. She will need to be in a home with a yard.

Gretchen will be a lovely companion in a home without other dogs and without young kids. We hope to find her a family who will be patient with her as she learns to trust.

She is updated on shots, spayed and will be chipped. Her adoption fee is $395.

We cover the medical to prepare the pet for adoption and the adopt donations go directly to cover those costs and range from $295-$495.  Thank you for stepping up to save a life!

More about this rescue

Saving Great Animals is a match-making rescuer. We have no public facility. We work individually to do our best in matching your desires and lifestyle to the best animal pal. We love what we do! We are Seattle-based but have representatives in all parts of Washington state and the Pacific Northwest.

We are volunteer-based and everyone in our rescue works full time at paying careers,

Saving Great Animals has been working tirelessly as a no-kill, foster-based rescue for the last 9 years. We also are connected to a wide network of foster homes and numerous shelters around the state to find permanent homes for animals that are deserving of love and a family. Many of the dogs and cats we rescue would otherwise face unecessary euthanization.

We also work hard to bring dogs and cats into SGA directly from their former home so they animals will never enter the shelter system which has environments that can be very stressful for them, even though we know so many shelter workers who are tireless too in helping the animals.

A very small percentage of our dogs come to us from our sister-shelter in Taiwan, where these dogs are typically rescued from deplorable circumstances.

All of our pets available for foster or adoption also are listed on PetFinder at (http://www.petfinder.com/shelters/WA418.html).

To contact SGA directly, please email info@savinggreatanimals.org.

If you are interested in fostering or volunteering, we want to hear from you! We are finalizing our 501 C-3 status; and do appreciate any and all donations as 100% of our funds, every penny, goes to the animals. We are always extremely tight on funds, frequently dipping into our own pockets. All donations can be paid by paypal by sending to perrin@savinggreatanimals.org
