Aberdeen Scottish Terrier Rescue is a registered 501(c)3

***MUST SUBMIT APPLICATION before we will respond to email or phone inquiries. Thank You for your cooperation***
Please read listings fully to the end before applying for one of our beloved rescues.

WE ARE NOT A SHELTER; WE ARE AN ALL-VOLUNTEER RESCUE WITH FULL-TIME JOBS.
Please do not contact us to look at a dog. We will contact you once we have reviewed your completed application if we think your home might be a good fit. A reference check, phone interview, and home visit will be completed before meeting an adoptable dog.

We work quickly. Please do not submit an application until you are ready to bring a new furry family member home. Expect your references to be contacted shortly after submitting your application. We adopt out to homes around WA & OR, but require that you are present for the meet and greet in Newcastle, WA.

Our adoption fee is non-negotiable. The adoption fee is due on the day of adoption in the form of a check, Zelle, or cash. We no longer accept PayPal due to their fees they charge the rescue but if the potential adopter wants to pay the fees we will accept PayPal.

Jensen listed as 5 - 8 years old who was named by the shelter in CA, but how & why he ended up there we will never know? Clearly just by looking at this boy you can see he is such a teddy bear & true to form that’s his personality. He sat & waited in the shelter for his people to come. But we reached out to the shelter to make sure he was going to be helped & safe & we a back up just in case. He had a long list of people who were supposed to come get him per the shelter. But no one showed up to help him.

Yes, it appears at the age of possibly 8 he was going to die which is absolutely unacceptable & disgusting. We rescued this beautiful little lad & thank goodness we did when we did. That day was 1 very sad & joyous day all at the same time. Without our outstanding rescue friend going & getting him for us as we had rescued another sweet soul from being euthanized at another shelter at the same time Jensen would have not made it out.
Jensen who is now looking for his very own forever home & who will never give up on him again & dump him & love him just as his foster mum & dad here do.

After we rescued Jensen he was bought back to WA state from CA where he can’t wait to find him his loving forever home.

The absolute insanity to think this baby doll ended up in a kill shelter in CA is soul destroying.
Jensen just wants to be loved. Disturbing to think no one wanted him & he was ready to die. The level of absolute madness here is so deeply sad for many of these beautiful souls out of CA kill shelters. When we first rescued him, he ate multiple bowls of food as if he is making up for lost time. In his foster home his foster mum cooks for him & he eats clean. Fruits, vegetables, grains, raw meat & other proteins along with supplements. He also adores a good treat.
Jensen is a very soft gentle soul, he is so easy his foster mum said considering what he has endured. His foster mum said Miso is a very sweet dog & loves his humans once he knows them. Lays with you & can't be happier being petted & touched. He also loves to be with his buddies & just lay with them or do whatever they are doing. Or he will just go off by himself & watch what is going on.
She said he is really such a good & smart boy. He taught himself instantly how to go up & down hardwood stairs.
He loves everyone he meets after he knows them & enjoys being cuddled to & given love. He enjoys sleeping on his bed or pile of blankets with his foster siblings or sometimes he will go to the side of the bed & want you to pick him up so he can sleep with you.
His foster mum still cannot believe someone dumped this boy as he is such a sweetheart of a boy. Teddy bear like.

When he was first rescued after he ate, had his bath a nice bed was made for him with lots of blankets & he slept as if he had not slept in a very long time. He knew he was safe now & he could relax.

Jensen’s new forever home must have a fully fenced secured backyard for his safety. He enjoys going out into the backyard in his foster home & having a wander around but does not like to stay out there for too long.
Jensen has been great with his baths because he started having them with us in his loving foster home the moment he was rescued so he is used to them. He has also started getting used to being dried with a hairdryer. He will just let you dry him. He loves both his foster mum & his foster dad. He has put on weight since being in his loving foster home.
Jensen rides beautifully in the car & enjoys a good journey & will sit in his car seat next to you with his dogs friends. He also enjoys looking out the window. He still needs continued work walking on his harness & leash but was taught in his first foster home & does well considering. We are looking for a forever home for Jensen where someone is home during the day or he can go with his people wherever possibly he can go with them. We are also looking for a crate free home for the little lad only. He was left in a cage in the shelter until we rescued him.
Jensen is looking for a forever home who will cherish him & love him as he should be loved & be patient with him.

Jensen has been around many breeds of dogs all shapes & sizes & he is currently with other dogs & fostered with other dogs in his foster home & does well with them & enjoys their company & would get lonely without another dog so needs another dog in the home.

Jensen is roughly 8 years old 13 lbs & is perhaps a miniture poodle & what he is mixed with we are not sure at all. He is male, neutered, has limited teeth left but his remaining teeth are good. He is microchipped, up to date on his shots, including DHLPP, Bordatella, rabies & being dewormed.

Jensen has not been around cats since being in the rescue but it’s always up to the new family to be responsible with their animals together. We have not had him around small children. But we do not recommend small children nor cats & it’s always up to the family to be responsible with their children.

We were not there when Jensen was conceived so we do not know who his parents were & it’s always up to the new potential family to look at the pictures & decide what they think his breed is.

As with all of our rescues & Jensen’s friends he will need work on potty training & training, so this should be something the new family would be willing to work on & commit to. Please do not submit an application if you are not willing to commit to one of our rescues care for their whole life & that includes if they need training. Please do not email us asking is Jensen potty trained or available, nor do we ship dogs anywhere as we will not respond.

We would never say anyone of our rescues are potty trained. Our rescues need homes where the people are understanding of their past & what they have been through & what they will need in their daily lives & not willing to give up on them & if they do need training in their new home will in fact take them to training & not just say they will when applying.
Jensen has been through many traumas in his short time on this earth so when applying this needs to be kept in mind & for his care.

Please only submit an application if you are truly interested in adopting Jensen & going through our process and have read his listing fully to the end & are wanting to adopt. If you are not responsive to our calls, emails or your references do not respond we will move on & remove your application from our system. You must be willing to go through our screening process which includes your references being checked, a phone interview & a virtual home visit due to covid & followed by a meet and greet & if it’s a good fit, up to our discretion. We will only be accepting applications for Jensen who understands his needs & that meet all the requirements for this spirited little lad.
Once we find the right home for each little soul we work fast, within days so the dogs can go to their forever homes in quite a timely manner. We do not hold onto dogs for people as our goal is to save lives & please do not submit an application if you are not ready to adopt. We also cannot respond to every application unfortunately.

Jensen has an adoption fee of $1250 & is ready for his truly loving forever home & compassion & understanding of what he has been through.
