My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Big Mac is a shy boy with a heart of gold, a true gentle giant. He is a tad skittish at first, but once he warms up to you he will be your best friend. He loves to sit on or by his people all day long- he can never get close enough! He is calm and soft spoken, but he does love to play and chase his toys.

Big Mac would do best in a quieter home with people there to support him. He can be sensitive and startle easily, but as long as he has somebody there to bolster him he can be brave. He  does well with other cats, dogs are unknown. He is slightly overweight, so understanding proper food portions is a must to help keep him healthy.

Big Mac would do best in a home with kids older then 10.

Big Mac has been tested for FIV and Feline Leukemia. His adoption fee includes: updated age appropriate vaccines, his neuter surgery, rabies and microchip.

Please note: we do not adopt unaltered kittens to homes beyond a 45-minute drive of our veterinarians.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

1. Review the description of the pet you are interested in to make sure that the information we have fits with your particular needs and desires. In most cases, the information on the website is current and gives the information that we have about the particular pet. The picture of the pet does not tell the whole story.

2. Complete the adoption application. Please make sure that you give us as much information about yourself as you can. List all animals currently living with you including other dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, and rodents. The application needs to be complete in order to help us determine if the pet you have chosen is a good match for your home. http://pawsforlifenc.org/pet-adoptions/apply-for-adoption/

3. Once the application is submitted we will contact you, your references, and your vet.

4. We require a home visit prior to dog adoptions.

5. If more than one person applies, we will go with the BEST fit. If all things are equal, we go in the order the applications were received.

6. Once the home visit has been completed, you will be asked to complete an adoption agreement.

7. An adoption fee of $275 for dogs under 6 months $250 for 6 months and older and $95 for cats, Senior Cats $50. This fee helps us to provide the necessary medical care and other needs for the pets while in foster care.

8. All Paws For Life pets are spayed or neutered if old enough, current on shots, micro chipped, and to our knowledge, in good health before they are adopted out. Puppies under 6 months of age will require a $100 spay/neuter deposit in addition to the adoption fee and a special puppy spay/neuter agreement. We are all volunteers and receive no monetary compensation for our work with the pets. The adoption fee is used to help defray costs in the rescue and care of the pets.

9. Congratulations! You are on your way to having your new companion. We hope that you and your new companion share a life of love and happiness. We welcome any comments you may wish to give us about your pet at any time.
