My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Name: Simba

Age: 11 Months

Gender: Male

Weight: 18 Kilos / 39 pounds

Size: Medium

Breed: Potcake breed mix / labrador

Primary color: Gold

Spayed/Neutered? Yes

Vaccinated? Yes

Heart Worm Negative? Yes

Good with dogs? Yes

Resource guarding? Yes, he likes other dogs to respect his space as he has to eat with many dogs at the time.

Bark / noisy? No

Good with kids? Yes

Good with cats? No

Energy level? Medium-high. He has the livelihood of a young dog. Proper activities and training as for any dog that age is recommended as well as social interaction with other dogs and people. .

Has experience on a leash? Yes

Potty trained? Simba is clean in his space and follows the rules in the facility where he is currently is being boarded. He  has not yet had experience living in a proper home but Simba is very intelligent and a young dog and he will adjust very fast to a home enviroment.

Crate trained? Yes, but for short periods of time only as he is an active young dog.

Where does the dog stay when it is alone? He currently is boarded among other dogs but Simba is not an anxious dog  and could be an only dog. Please note that it is recommended not to leave dogs alone for more than 4-6 hours at the time when first introduced to new home environments. Make sure they have everything they need to be comfortable and safe.

Where does the dog sleep? Inside his kennel space .

Temperament/Personality: He has a very friendly personality and is very intelligent, active and playful. He is a resilient dog, curious as any young dog his age and eager to explore his surroundings. His cross breed known more as “Pot cake” are known to make the best companions as they are very loyal, sensitive and grateful.
Simba knows how to win his way among people as he is a very trusting and affectionate dog winning the hearts in an instant of everyone that meets him.

What does the dog's ideal home look like? With an active family or a person that is looking for a young dog. Simba will make the greatest addition as he is a young and happy dog that will get along great with kids. He could also be a great companion for a second dog that is in need of a forever partner.
Simba will be perfect for an active family or person as his slim body structure makes him ideal for outdoor adventures  such as walks, runs or hitting the trails. Simba`s friendly personality will also blend perfectly in social events with people.
Apartments are not much recommended as daily exercise is required.

What is the dog's rescue story? Simba was rescued in a low-income area of Guadalajara when he was just 1 month old along with his Mom and his other 2 siblings. He was born in an abandoned lot where other street dogs lived.
Neighbors say there were up to 6 puppies spotted, but they were disappearing one by one, probably taken by kids or other street dogs. That is when a good neighbor started gaining his mom's trust by giving her food. As soon as she allowed him to get near them, she was taken along with her puppies into a foster home ( December 2023). Unfortunately, it was detected that they were being mistreated by the people in their foster home. Trying with no luck to find them suitable homes in the city, Simba's case came to the attention of NWG rescue partner in Guadalajara, and they were immediately transferred to an adequate private facility where they could be properly attended.
Simba is now more than ready to find his forever family and looking forward enjoying life.

Simba  is waiting in Mexico until a family is committed to fostering her or taking him on a trial. If you are interested, apply at www.northwestwagrescue.org his adoption fee is $550
