Get ready to welcome home your forever best friend and most loyal protector! Brute is looking for a home that has loving adults and other furry friends, but no little kids (he is nervous around kiddos). He is the biggest sweetheart you will ever meet and loves all adventures from traveling the country, to playing in the dog park, to hiking, to snuggling on the couch for a movie night in! When you’re sick, Brute will snuggle with you and make sure you feel better quick! He takes a minute to warm up to new people, but he loves treats to smooth the transition! Also, he does not like his ears to be messed with (I mean who does, right?)! His tail is a huge tell concerning his comfort level. If it’s wagging, he’s good!:) Also, he will warn you of intruders, once when someone stole a bike off my front porch, Brute warned me by barking very loudly at the front door! Also, Brute is the best brewery, winery, or coffee shop companion! He will sit quietly by your side and be your silent companion (of course sneaking in a pet now and then – but he will not bark at other dogs passing).

Some of Brute’s favorite things to do include going to the dog park (Brute never met a furry friend he did not love….though some cats were not so sure about Brute), get pup cups from local coffee shops and Andy’s Frozen Custard, go for car rides, explore new states (sniffing is his favorite hobby), and most importantly snuggles (on the couch and bed, because mom loves to snuggle)!! Brute is a couch potato at heart and Saturday mornings his favorite thing to do is sleep in, snuggle and watch a cartoon, and then go on a long walk to a coffee shop (pup cup included is his favorite).

Brute is the most loyal companion you will ever know, and all he asks in return is lots of love! He is a protector, but as long as he knows his family trusts a new comer to the home, he is perfectly happy welcoming new friends.

Likes/Loves: Treats, Dropped food on the floor, sunbathing, dog parks – he loves all dogs & has many furry friends (he was a great big brother when I fostered a puppy for a short time), and greeting mom everytime she comes home – he will be your best friend and loyal protector

Dislikes: Blow Up Yard Décor (he will bark at it like it will attack you if you’re not careful), Being left at the border, Being sprayed with water from a hose, and Elevators (the glass one he had to ride up to mom’s apartment when I first fostered him was the worst)

Notes: To Brute’s next forever home, I will send his bed, his jacket, his monthly simparica and heartworm medicine, leash/color, and other miscellaneous items that are his.:)

If you have any questions about Brute reach out to his current mom (Maggie Donoho – 913-674-6208) anytime!

Approximate Birthdate:  3/2018

Adoption Fee: Brute's adoption is sponsored by a generous donor!

TARA's adoption fee includes: spay/neuter, age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, heartworm test (if age appropriate), heartworm and flea prevention, and deworming.  TARA's pets are all eligible for a two week trial .

Due to the fact that many of our dogs come from the local city shelters, we do not know the background of many of them and therefore cannot always guarantee age or breed.  Size is subjective but we use the following guidelines: Small 1-20 pounds, Med 20-50 pounds, Large 50-80 pounds, Extra Large over 80 pounds.

Additional adoption info

The first step to meet or adopt any of our animals is to fill out a no-commitment application online. This is normally followed up with a meeting between your family and the animal, and a home visit. Adoption fees range from $75 to $300. Please visit our website (TarasDream.org) for more information about our adoptable pet including bios, more photos, and each pet's adoption fee. If an animal is not listed on our website, they are no longer available for adoption.

More about this rescue

A non-profit 501C3, all volunteer group dedicated to helping homeless pets in the Greater Kansas City area. Our organization is the result of an alliance between several rescuers in the Kansas City region who share the same goal of ending animal suffering and homelessness.

Although we are foster home based, we also lease several kennels at a local boarding facility. Although this little "shelter" is allowing us to save many more lives, it is an added expense which is why we rely so heavily on generous donations from caring people in the community.

In addition to rescuing pets from difficult situations, we offer courtesy listings in Pet Finder, facilitate low-cost spays and neuterings, work on transfers and transports with existing rescue groups, help individuals and organizations promote, screen and educate potential adopters, fund raise to help pets with special needs, offer guidance and information about animal rescue, organize events, etc.
