Heather is a sweet Maltese that is currently being fostered with one of our dog trainers that specializes in timid, shy dogs. She is a breeder release and is guessed to be around 6-7 years old.
She is absolutely adorable and her foster mom says she is making great progress but is still very nervous around new people. She is quiet and wants so badly to come close but is still quite nervous.
She is fully kennel trained and loves, loves, loves her kennel, it is her safe place. She loves to be out in the dog run and is potty trained at her foster mom's house. She has just started learning to walk on a leash but will need someone to introduce her to the world slowly to give her time to adjust to her new life.
There are lots of other dogs at her foster moms house so we know she is dog friendly, her foster doesn't have any cats but thinks she would be fine with them if introduced properly. She thinks she would do better in a home with a confident dog or in a quiet home with adults or older quiet kids only. She will need an adopter who will give her love and patience.
Please consider this adorable girl as a part of your new family. She deserves all the love in the world and will give you a lifetime of love. The shy dogs become the most loyal dogs and LOVE LOVE LOVE their humans. She has so much love to give and is looking for her FurEver Home.
Her foster mom is located in Fort Collins Colorado and wants to find a patient adopter who is willing to help her continue with her training and help her gain confidence either with in person, or virtual training session(s). She will provide a discount on training. The amount of training needed will depend on the knowledge and experience of the adopter and how far along Heather is at the time of adoption.

Over 75% of our dogs are in foster homes along the front range. The foster will get in touch to schedule meetings for their foster dog. Meetings will happen in/near their homes since that is where the dog is the most comfortable. We do want you to bring family members (human and dog) to the meeting! Dogs who are currently at our Windsor facility will have meetings there and a volunteer will reach out to schedule those meetings with you. Please be aware that we do not place our dogs on a first come, first served basis, but rather a best-fit placement. Never fear, applications are valid for a year so if the first dog you meet isn't a good fit, we will have plenty of time to find one that is.
