My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

URGENT! In need of foster or adopter by May 1***
Rocky is aged at about 5 years young, but really has so much puppy left in him. Probably making up for lost time since he spent the first years of his life chained in a yard with minimal interactions. His FAVORITE thing, well besides snuggles and belly rubs, is playing fetch. And yes, a complete game including dropping it at your feet every time for another throw! Rocky has been working hard on manners and leash skills, as he didn’t have any when he first arrived, and being fostered in the big city of Burlington, has had its challenges, but his foster mom has done a wonderful job coaching him through the struggles and he’s becoming more confident every day. An ideal home/family would be one where Rocky could be the center of attention. He loves his people and wants to soak up all the love he can get and show you all the fun games and antics he has under his paws. He has learned a plethora of “tricks” with his foster mom, including sit, down, place, leave it, drop it, take it, touch, center (through your legs), off and all done. He’d love to continue building on those queues! Rocky is still learning proper social etiquette with other dogs and although he is friendly with other dogs, he can be rude and pushy. Thankfully he’s receptive to being interrupted when he’s not respecting the social cues from another dog. Much like a puppy, he just needs to learn boundaries in play, which we are happy to teach to any prospective adopters or fosters so he can continue to improve in this aspect. He is currently being fostered with another dog, and is happy to allow her to rule the roost.

Rocky does great off leash in private non distracted areas. He is still too excited about meeting new dogs and people and needs some continued learning to greet respectfully. A large fenced in yard would be heaven for this guy so he can run to his heart’s desire and play those games of fetch! Rocky has earned free roam in his foster home and is good at picking up a favorite toy and napping with it on the couch until his person comes home. He is crate trained but prefers to sleep under the covers with his foster mama. Rocky is extremely loyal to his person(s) and would love to be involved in the day-to-day activities. He will match the energy in the room, so if you’re napping, he’ll be your warming buddy, if you’re cooking, he’s there ready to clean up any mishaps, if you’re doing yard work, he’s sniffing nearby while checking in with you. He loves to hike and go on sniffari’s, but always has his person in sight and comes when he hears his name. On long car rides, he settles in for a good snoring session. Rocky has many good qualities and with guidance, he can better learn how to navigate his new world with his trusted bestie by his side. This boy would love an active family to take him on adventures and continue teaching him good doggo manners. He has a good balance of lounging indoors and exploring outdoors. No kitties for this guy... he wants to play and chase. If you love the goofiness of bully mixes, Rocky will not disappoint. If you think you might be a match for this boy, please submit a foster or adoption application at pottersangelsrescue.org.

*Puppies adopted out that are under 12 weeks of age will not have been vaccinated against Rabies. The adopter will need to be responsible for getting them vaccinated.

Unfortunately there is no such thing as a “free” animal. ALL animals need some kind of medical attention at some point in their lives. Our adoption fee for dogs includes spay/neuter surgery, Rabies vaccine, Distemper vaccine, Bordatella vaccine, precautionary deworming, microchip with registration, flea treatment (if necessary), heartworm test (if necessary), and a heartworm preventative. Cats receive spay/neuter surgery, Rabies vaccine, FVRCP vaccine, FeLV/FIV test, precautionary deworming, flea treatment (if necessary). Depending on which vet is used, our animals’ medical needs can cost upwards of $500, just for the procedures listed above. Other animals may require dental care, prescription medications or diets, or long-term intensive nursing.

Here at Potters Angels Rescue, we strive to adopt our animals out to the best matches possible for them. This means that an animal other than the one who initially catches your eye may be a better fit for your home and lifestyle.

Our policy is to adopt to people that are 21 years of age or older. This is not a first come/first served procedure as we take great care in matching our dogs to prospective homes. Please be aware that a representative will contact you as soon as possible when you either make an inquiry or complete an application, however ‘as soon as possible’ does not mean immediately nor an exact amount of time as we are volunteers. It means just that- as soon as we possibly can.

After the references have been checked on your application, you can expect a call from one of our representatives as soon as we can. This is in order to address any concerns regarding your application and gives you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have thought of since completing the application. After this a home visit will be scheduled with a representative and the adopter. It is required that and everyone in the household be present including the 4 legged members. If possible this will also be when the potential adopter meets the dog; although occasionally due to distance that will require a second meeting.

If you have found a specific animal you are interested in, please list the animal on the application. If you have questions about a specific animal, please send us an e-mail at info@pottersangelsrescue.org. We will then have the animal’s foster parent get in contact with you.

We are emotionally tied to the animals we rescue and remain committed to the animals and their adoptive families for their life. If there is a problem in keeping the adopted animal at any time during their life, we require that the animal come back to us for re-homing. Additionally, if there are problems or concerns with the health or well being of an animal, we are there to help the adoptive family with the support they require.

Go meet their pets

Our foster pets reside in loving foster homes before they are adopted. On occasion we have special events in which you can meet some of them.

More about this rescue

Potters Angels Rescue (PAR) is an animal rescue group based out of the New England area that is dedicated to placing unwanted or neglected animals in loving and everlasting homes. With the economy the way it is, we are getting more and more requests for finding homes for animals that are being left behind by their owners due to moving, increased work hours, lack of time for the dog or the inability to afford the dog and it’s vet care. We also assist local animal control officers in placing our local stray population, as well as responding to neglect and cruelty complaints.

Here at PAR, we do require that all animals are spayed/neutered and made current on all their vaccinations before being placed for adoption, which is why we request an adoption fee.
Our main goal is to make sure the animals that we come across make it in to homes where they are well loved and taken care of throughout the rest of their lives. It is a very sad thing to witness the emotions that an animal goes through when they are removed from their family and we would hate to think of them going somewhere that was anything less than a loving home.
