My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Col. Potter Cairn Terrier Rescue

www.cairnrescue.com

This is Fionn, a small breed mix (see below). She is a retired breeder and lived her life in a small cage so she is fearful of this brave new world she finds herself in. Fionn will need a calm home, with another dog. She is worried about direct eye contact at the moment, but we are working on her confidence – and she has made great strides! She is still a work in progress, but is willing to be handled and groomed - she does still skitter away if you look at her, but circles around and tries to approach for treats and ear rubs if she can do this without too much eye contact. Do you have room in your heart and home for a little girl that wants to be loved, but just needs more time to be confident about accepting it? Fionn’s DNA results are in and she is 48% Poodle, 28% Cavalier king charles spaniel, 10% Cairn terrier, 5% Beagle, and 3% West Highland white terrier.

Fionn is being fostered in Virginia in a PRIVATE FOSTER HOME but we allow our dogs to be adopted out all over the United States and Canada!

**** FOSTER HOMES NEEDED! ****

YOU can make a huge difference by fostering just one dog. ONE dog, ONE time a year = ONE life that could be saved! Each and everyday we have the opportunity to save more Cairns in need, but we can't do it if we don't have the Foster Homes to place them in. Would you like to learn more on how you can help?

'Saving just one dog won't change the world, but it surely will change the world for that one dog.'

More about this rescue

We are NOT A SHELTER with a single physical location. Instead, we are a national network of volunteers working to help re-home Cairns in need.
We began as a small internet community of people trying to help one of their members through the heartache of losing a little Cairn named Col. Potter. In the weeks that followed that simple process of showing care and support, a national Cairn terrier rescue was born. It filled a void to serve a wonderful, randomly protected, and sometimes misunderstood breed. Cairns can have every kind of personality, from laid back to intensely lively; most fall somewhere in between.

Our rescue attracts caring foster homes who will provide guidance and love; sometimes for the first time in a rescued Cairn's life. Our foster homes also provide an honest, realistic evaluation of each Cairn's personality, so an approved applicant can expect to be matched with a Cairn whose traits and behaviors fit their lifestyle.

At present, Col. Potter has just under 200 foster homes all over the United States.
