My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This is Penny Lane. She's a five year old indoor spayed female Staffordshire Terrier mix. PPenny is spayed, house trained and crate trained, and up-to-date on all vaccinations. She takes Simparica Trio monthly for prevention of fleas, ticks, and heart worms and has no medical conditions or special dietary needs. She's on Purina Pro Plan dry food twice a day and is an indoor dog.

Penny knows all the basic commands like Sit, Stay, Come, Down, and is crate trained for her meals and for sleeping overnight. She does really well with healthy dog treats but she is not allowed human food. Penny is really smart and can be really affectionate.

Other random things about Penny: She loves to run and play, likes Durabones but doesn't do a lot of fetch/catch, does ok on a leash, does fine in the car, is very food motivated but not food aggressive, does well with baths and trimming her nails (we've worked so much with her!)

Submit Application

If you see an animal you would like to meet, complete our online application. You will receive an email with the next steps.

2.
Meet the Pet

Visit the facility where the animal is located. If in foster care, the foster will set up a time to meet with you.

3.
Sign Adoption Contract

One of our adoption counselors will review the animal's medical history and walk you through the paperwork.

4.
Pay Fee

Our adoption fees include spay/neuter, vaccinations and microchip.

5.
Take the Pet Home

Once the adoption process is complete, you can bring your furry friend home!

Our mission is to provide the programs and services needed to eliminate the killing of at-risk animals due to lack of space, adopter or foster.

San Antonio Pets Alive! is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Due to alarming euthanasia rates, San Antonio Pets Alive! (SAPA!) was founded in 2012. SAPA! is unique—it is the only high paced, high-volume rescue in San Antonio, saving 6,000 at-risk cats and dogs annually.

Since its inception, SAPA! has saved more than 47,000 dogs and cats. SAPA! provides safety nets for the dogs and cats that fall through the cracks of all other lifesaving options and end up on the euthanasia lists, often with just hours to be saved. SAPA! promotes the availability of these dogs and cats to other rescues, adopters and fosters.
