Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Shelby! Shelby is a female, 5-year-old, Labrador Retriever and Australian Cattle Dog mix. She weighs 60 pounds.
Shelby arrived at the shelter as a stray. Shelby is very friendly, food motivated, and she knows sit. She does well riding in the car, and she has done well with other dogs. Here are some more notes on her from a volunteer: Easy to leash, pulls some - just when excited Sometimes eats treats Knows 'sit' Calm, sweet, gentle and can't get enough love Loves Food, and exploring and sniffing where other dogs have been Favorite activity is sniffing EVERYTHING! "Good with the train and presumably loud noises (train went by and didn't startle her). Exploratory and smelling where other dogs have been. Very food motivated after a while. Has clearly been worked by humans. Responds to 'good girl.' Shelby has been leash trained and does not pull hard."
Shelby will need an indoor home and a secure containment area to stay safe from wandering and escaping. Positive reinforcement, fear-free training will be needed. Daily exercise and mental enrichment will be very important. If you have other dogs in your home, we would be happy to arrange a meet and greet with your dog(s) to make sure everyone gets along. We do not know how she will do with cats.
Shelby is up to date on vaccines, microchipped, spayed, and ready to go home today.
The shelter is currently open by appointment only. Fill out an application to schedule an appointment today!
