My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

In addition to the following profile for this dog, please first read the Adoption Information at http://www.shihtzurescuemn.org/adopt.html to understand the process, requirements and timeline for adoption. An adoption application can also be found in the Adoption Info section. If, after reading that information, you have any questions, please submit your question via e-mail and it will be answered. Please do not request a phone call. A personal phone call will only be made when an adoption application has been submitted and the foster parent wishes to consider the application. Thank you.

Sunny is a creamy white and brown cute little Shih Tzu that is two years old and weighs about 15 pounds. She has just been rescued from an Iowa puppy mill and is learning the joy of living free and encountering new things in life. She is sweet, fun-loving and is excited to find new toys to play with in a basket, and shakes them. She thoroughly enjoys playing with little dogs. She is learning how to walk on a leash and seems to enjoy walks, although she tends to stick to herself as she takes in all the smells. Sunny loves to be in the same room with everyone and wants a little scratch behind the ear or on top or the head – she absolutely loves the pleasure of it, after never experiencing it before in her life.

Because she spent her life in a puppy mill, Sunny has not had much experience being out of doors, but she enjoys going outside in the yard when it’s dry; she doesn’t like the wet ground.
Sunny is a little skittish of people and would do best with another small dog to serve as a role model and who could give her some confidence. However every day she is a little bolder and more playful. She will continue to become more confident and will flourish with a patient, understanding family. Small children (under the age of ten) would be too much activity for her, and a quiet, calm home would be best. She doesn’t want to be alone or in a kennel so a family with someone home most of the time would be great for Sunny.

Sunny is in the process of being house trained and will need some reinforcing and patience when she makes the transition to her new home. She is perfectly happy sleeping in her kennel all night WITH THE DOOR OPEN.

Sunny is a sweetheart who wants a quiet patient home and family. To ensure that, here are the requirements for her new family:

• Sunny with thrive with an active family/owner that will walk her regularly and make her a part of their daily life.

• A family that works from home or is home most of the day

• Sunny can be in a home with another small dog who will help her learn by being a role model and friend.

• A family with children over the age of 10 will be considered, depending on their experience with a small dog.

• Sunny’s new family should live within the 30-45 miles of Lakeville, MN and commit to attending the Shih Tzu Rescue Reunion held each year in September.

We understand there are quite a few requirements for Sunny’s new family. But if you meet the requirements, you will have abundant joy with this cute, sweet little girl.

Sunny is spayed, current on vaccinations, microchipped and on heartworm and flea/tick preventative. Her adoption fee is $420.00 plus $35.81 in sales tax for a total of $455.81.

To meet Sunny, please complete an adoption application at the website listed in the first paragraph. Or you can also see him and the other dogs available for adoption from Shih Tzu Rescue of Minnesota by visiting with us from 10:00 AM to 12:00 noon the first Saturday of every month at the Southtown Petco in Bloomington, MN.
