My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Available for Adoption!

**Please Read FULL post before applying! **

Meet Dottie, the XL Bully with a heart as big as her paws. When she’s not lounging in the sun, she’s busy making new friends and spreading joy wherever she goes!

Adoption Family Requirements:
1. Breed Experience is a must
2. 3-week Board & Train scheduled for April 5th – adopter will be required to do 2 private sessions with the trainer in Kitchener (included)
3. Must go to a home with another dog! She LOVES dogs and would do so well with a dog that has the same energy level as her

Name: Dottie
Location of dog: Bulington, Ontario
Breed: American Bully XL
Weight: Approx. 60lbs
Gender: Female
Spayed/Neutered: no, will be at appropriate age
Age: 6 months (DOB: October 5, 2023)
Energy Level: Medium - High
Medical (shots etc): UTD
Microchipped: no, will be at time of spay
Good with dogs: yes
Good with cats: yes, with dog savvy cats – is fostered with 2 of them, but needs boundaries due to over excitement
Good with kids: yes 10+ due to size and energy level
Good with strangers: yes, she is sometimes unsure of men but is good when her space is respected. She has shown huge progress and seems to vibe off other people’s energy
Guarding Issues: No
House Trained: yes, as long as she is taken out often to avoid any accidents
Crate Trained: Yes, she LOVES her crate! She will run to her crate when she knows its breakfast or dinner, and will sit patiently waiting for her food
Destructive: yes, she is a very curious puppy and is still learning so she gets into everything if not supervised. She has got a lot better, but she loves to steal slippers and socks
Leash skills: Good
Okay with manipulations: Yes
Known commands: sit, lay down
Behavior Issues: has no manners and is very puppy like still – she has been working hard to be a better girl, and will be heading to board and train to work on these things before she goes to her forever home!
Medical issues: none
Hobbies: Play-time with my foster siblings, tug-of-war, and lounging on the couch. Dottie may look tough on the outside, but she’s a big softie at heart. All she wants is someone to love and play with.
Other Observations: Dottie is full of love and life; nothing slows this girl down! She has no manners (but is learning quick!) and we know setting her up for success right from the start is so important, so she will be heading to a 3-week Board and Train to ensure the best possible future for our little lovebug! Dottie is happy ALL the time; she has a constant smile, her tail does not stop wagging, and she has unlimited amounts of cuddles and kisses! She is A LOT of dog, she doesn’t realize her size and will gladly try to knock you over without even realizing it. She is very treat motivated which will work in your favor for continuing her training!

More about this rescue

Strong and powerful breeds are some of the most misunderstood, feared and mistreated breeds in North America. As well as dominant and so called aggressive breeds. Thousands in our very own home of Ontario alone are euthanized, seized, dumped and surrendered. And at FABR we want to change that starting today, with you!

We strive to rescue power breed types, bully types, large and extra large dogs, the ones shelters and some rescues would dare take in. We rehabilitate, train, care for them and find them their forever homes. And we do travel out of province to bring them to safe provinces that do not hold a BSL ban, when needed. Every dog deserves a chance at life. A chance to be loved and have a family. Here at FABR we make that happen.

With fosters, volunteers and help from the community, we help and specialize in providing dogs with a safe place to be. A place for them to be the best they can be without judgment.

Once we take in a dog, our team starts assessments and planning what the dog needs are base on the dogs behaviors, personality and history (if we are giving any info of course). From there our team works with each dog individually to help them become ready to find their forever homes. We work hard to ensure our dogs have all the fundamentals needed in life and behavior wise to be successful in their new homes. With daily exercise, training, socialization and lots of play time.
Through all of our endeavors we hope to display the conviction behind our beliefs.
