My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Please contact Debbie (Deb@AmericanbulldogRescue.org) for more information about this pet.

Dog: Hazel

Age:  1 year old, estimated dob: 3/1/2023

Weight: 76 lbs

Location: Philadelphia, PA

Nicknames: Hazel Girl, Hazy

Good with other dogs?: Yes.

Good with cats? Unknown.  Will not be placed with a cat.

Good with children? Unknown.  Will not be adopted to a home with very small children.  No children under about 12.

Activity Preference: Would like a daily walk or two, time for zoomies, exploring the yard, naps.

IQ: average

Favorite Things: Being outside exploring the backyard, playing with pinecones, going for long walks and just being with her companion.  Hazel also loves to wind down after a day of walks and backyard time by spending some quality time chewing on a good bone.

Good at: meeting people but she can be shy with men, meeting dogs, staying in a crate, behaving in the house, going for car rides, listening to commands.

Ideal home: Hazel is a jumper and will require a 6ft fenced yard where she will get lots of exercise; Her ideal home would be one with a playful male dog and someone at home most of the day.

Training Needs: Hazel is extremely well behaved for her age but may benefit from a refresher training course with her new family.

Health issues: No health issues.

Meet Hazel:

Hazel is a shy, sweet young pup who recently arrived at ABR.  Hazel had a long trip to get to us here in Philadelphia from Georgia and everyone who met her on her trip just loved her!  She was unsure of her foster mom when she first arrived at her foster home, but after some time and space she quickly became her foster mom’s shadow. Hazel loves to receive praise and affection and loves to cuddle.  Hazel is very good on walks but is still adapting to her new suburban environment with lots of people, cars and strange noises. Her foster mom can see her confidence grow with every walk they take and Hazel is beginning to explore her surroundings. Her foster mom wants to see how she takes to hiking so more to come on those adventures! Hazel would love to have a playful brother to romp around with, have zoomie races with and cuddle with.

PLEASE READ: Adopters will not be considered without completing an application. Please visit www.AmericanBulldogRescue.org to apply! Remember - Adoption is always the best option! If you can't help by adopting a homeless pet, please consider making a tax-deductible donation to American Bulldog Rescue, 4 Terry Drive, Suite 1D Newtown, PA 18940 or paypal AmericanBulldogRescue@verizon.net. We cannot place dogs in homes with children under 10 unless that dog has lived with kids or is in a foster home with kids. Thank you.

To be considered for adoption, you must apply using our free, online application. Our dogs are fostered in our volunteers' homes, not in a central shelter/location. Only approved applicants are put into contact with the foster family to setup a meeting with the foster dog.
