Maui has been in the care of a non-owner for about a year. Ownership is still being sorted through.
Here`s preliminary info on her recent past.

Maui is confirmed to be 15 yrs old and we anticipate will need to find placement quickly once the ownership is sorted through.
She`s been friendly with people and neutral toward other animals she`s seen while with her caregiver.

She knows several cues like stay, stay and come. She`s able to stay home alone and is non-destructive and may need to be kept in area of tile for easy clean up if frequent potty breaks are not possible.

Her eyesight may not be what it was as a younger pup and she appreciates a dog bed to rest.

Our shelter has more than 500 available cats and dogs every day!
For pets at the shelter: Adoptions must be completed in-person at the shelter. AAC is open for adoption walk-ins every day from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. A shelter pet’s availability can change at any time, so we recommend choosing a few favorites.
For pets in foster: Go to www.AustinAnimalCenter.org to find the pet's profile and click that pet's pink “Adopt Me” button. This will prompt you to complete an adoption questionnaire. Submitting an application does not hold the animal for you.
We have dozens of animals that won't be listed online yet because they're still in their stray hold period, but can be pre-adopted at the shelter in case their owner doesn't come for them.

Adoption Fees:
$80 cats & kittens up to 6 years old
$80 dogs 6 months to 6 years, 30 lbs and up
$100 dogs under 30 lbs and/or under 6 months
$30 small animals
No fee for senior pets 7 years and older

Go meet their pets

The Austin Animal Center is open for adoptions every day from 11:00am to 7:00pm. We're closed Christmas Day, New Year's Day and Thanksgiving Day to give our staff some time with family.
Interested adopters should come to the shelter during business hours to meet with a counselor start looking for a pet who'll be a good fit. Our counselors and volunteers are happy to help with that process.
