My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Goldie! Goldie is a sweet pup that loves to be snuggled by her people and playing with her canine companions. She loves toys and spending time with outside with her people. Goldie is learning to share her food, but is agreeable and sweet to animals and people alike. Goldie has been raised with children, ages 13 to 5, cats, chickens, goats, and horses. Besides avoiding the horses, she does well with everything else.
Goldie is also deaf so she is looking for a special home that is able to accommodate her needs.
In her foster home, Goldie relies on her fellow dogs for cues as to what is happening around her. She does well on walks, but her foster mom does need to keep a close eye on her to ensure she doesn't get "lost" when her friends disappear from view. Goldie is also a little timid probably due to being startled regularly, but loves people and appreciates a gentle stroke to alert her to someone's presence/approach.
Goldie stays in a crate at night and while her foster mom is at work, but is still getting used to being by herself after her siblings all left to their forever homes.
Preferably, Goldie would go to a home experienced with deaf dogs, but she functions so well, families willing to learn will also be considered.
If you think you have room in your family for Goldie, please apply!

More about this shelter

The Bastrop Animal Control organization became a reality in 1998. We've grown since then and continue to do so as Bastrop County grows. Currently, we have 3 separate buildings containing a total of 90 large indoor/outdoor kennels and 8 play yards. We have 30 indoor cat kennels. We also have a 3 room cattery, that enables cats to live together in colony type environments until they find their forever home. If you have ever worked with or adopted a shelter pet, you know just how much they crave the attention and love we and our volunteers can provide and their eternal gratitude when they find their forever home at last.
