Charley has found himself at the shelter as a stray. So we don't know anything about his past-but he is one of those dogs that is very stressed in this environment. He is barky and jumping in his kennel, anxious to be collared for his walk. It takes a little while once outside for him to calm down-but once he does, you can see his whole body relax. He sits nicely when asked, and takes treats with a gentle mouth.
Charley has been to play groups here at the Center - he would probably do best either as being the only dog in the home or with a playful female who could give him corrections. He should NOT go to a home with another male dog. With a female dog, he was happy-go-lucky and quickly jumped in to play. But then he decided that humping might be a good idea-and quickly found out from his female participants that it wasn't such a good idea. In spite of this behavior, which can be a show of dominance, he was fun and friendly.
Once you meet this 2 Year old, his most striking feature is his solid mink brown, silky coat, with a white patch on his chest. He would love to walk with you outside and show you what a good boy he is.
If you're interested in learning more about Charley, please reach out to our volunteer matchmakers at wcac.matchmaker@gmail.com with the subject line "Charley 247790."
He is up to date on vaccinations, flea/tick, and heartworm prevention, is microchipped, and will be neutered prior to going home. If you have dogs or cats, we recommend slow introductions over time. If you have children in your home, we recommend supervision between animals and children at all times.
