DOG TEST: (Good with Dogs) Marvel has met another dog at the shelter and did great. He would do great in a home with other dogs.

CAT TEST: (Needs Testing) Marvel has never met cats.

KID TEST: (Good with Kids) Marvel would be good with kids of all ages.
HOUSE BROKEN: (Housebroken) Marvel still has accidents here and there, but will go potty outside.
ENERGY LEVEL: (Medium) Marvel is a big, goofy boy that always seems to be hungry. He loves to sit for treats and knows exactly when it`s dinner time. Marvel seems to be interested in toys, but will let another dog have tthe toy if they really want it. He is also a big fan of water and loves to play in it!

LEASH WALKING: (Needs Work) Marvel occasionally pulls on the leash, but is easy to redirect.

Our shelter is open 7 days a week. (Excluding holidays).

Monday- Friday 8am-5pm
Saturday- Sunday 10am-2pm

We ask that you come visit any time between open and no later than 30 minutes prior to closing. This ensures that staff will have enough time to assist you in meeting one of our great furry friends!

More about this shelter

We are a Municipal Animal Shelter for the City of Lee's Summit. We house animals brought in by Lee's Summit Animal Control Officers and Blue Springs Animal Control Officers.

Animals are also brought to us by owners that can no longer keep the animal or by strays that were impounded for running loose.

When an animal comes in as a stray, it is held for 5 days to give the owner a chance to claim it. If the owner does not claim it, on the 6th day it is put up for adoption or foster. During this 5 day holding period, if a potential adopter would like to adopt the animal, they are welcome to sign up on the adoption list. The names on the adoption list are contacted on the 6th day if no owner has made claim.
If there are no names on the adoption list, then the animal will become first come, first served when available for adoption.
