Say hi to Keith, our resident shy guy! Keith is a goofy cat that is looking for his furever home! Keith is searching for a patient adopter who understands that it is his world and we are just living in it! Keith may do well with another feline companion or a canine companion with slow introductions. In his foster home, Keith hid for the first two weeks before he felt that comfort and trust! Keith will come out for pets and scratches when he wants them! Keith will hide when visitors come over and stay hidden for the entirety of their visit. He would prefer a quiet home with older children as he does not like loud noises or fast movements.
Keith has some preferences when getting attention and he isn't afraid to give you a correction if you stray from his "safe" to be touched areas. The corrections start with whipping his head around to give you "the look" and escalate to whapping you with his paw (no claws), to then including claws. Because that window is pretty small and his comfort level depends on routine, it is best for Keith to go to a home without young children who cannot understand his ques. His safe zones include the ridge of his back from the back of his head to his hip bones (which is his favorite). As he becomes comfortable with you, you will receive headbutt, and full body pressing into your side. He never seemed comfortable climbing into a lap, but he did like curling up next to a person and taking a nap. He was just starting to feel comfortable enough to show his goofy side and showing his belly (DO NOT TOUCH!!!) and being interested in playing but that took several weeks.
If you are interested in meeting with Keith, please come down and visit with him during our open hours Thursday through Sunday 11a.m. to 3p.m.!
