My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Josephine (aka, Josie)!

At just one and a half years old, Josephine is a bundle of beagle energy and joy and this sweet, loving pup still has plenty of playful puppy antics. She is spayed, up-to-date on shots, and weighs 20 pounds.

Josephine thrives on companionship and affection. She loves nothing more than to snuggle up with her humans for belly rubs and cuddles. She loves kids but her energy level would be too much for small kids. We strongly recommend she goes to a home with children 10 years of age or older. She loves the dogs in her foster home and ideally she will go to a home with another playful dog.

Josephine lives up to the beagle breed's reputation as a curious, mischievous companion. She loves to sniff and chew so she'll need lots of toys and walks to help her get out in the world. She needs a loving, understanding family who can gently teach her proper doggie manners.

Josephine's ideal home is an active one with a fenced yard (minimum 5-feet high) and humans who enjoy long walks and playtime. She needs a family that understands the energy levels of a young beagle and can give her the activity, training, and mental stimulation she needs to be a well-balanced pup.

Josie is available for adoption to homes within a 50-mile radius of Tucson.

Additional adoption info

We generally require the following in an adoption:
• A signed, dated and completed adoption application.
• A home visit prior to the adoption.
• The adopter must be capable of caring for the dog emotionally and financially in the long-term.
• The adopter should have a fenced yard.
• If a renter, the adopter must be able to provide documentation from the landlord explicitly stating that pets are o.k.
• If the adopter lives in a shared-wall environment, SoAZBR needs assurance that a barking, noisy beagle is permissible.
• The dog must have accessed to a heated/cooled house during the day.
• The adopter must contact SoAZBR if they can no longer keep their dog.
• The adopter will keep SoAZBR as a secondary contact on the dog's microchip information so that we may assist in reuniting beagle with owner.
• The adopter assumes all financial and legal responsibility for the dog upon signing the adoption contract.

SoAZBR does not conduct on-site adoptions at pet events. SoAZBR does not conduct adoptions for dogs as gifts. We require that the entire family be involved in the adoption of the dog.

Fees range from $75 to $350 for each dog.
