My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Dotty Bug was brought in by her previous owner on March 13, 2024.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Meet Dotty Bug! Dotty Bug is a special cat with a gentle soul, seeking a loving home where she can feel safe and secure. Her new home should be one a low population, quiet household without children. This serene environment will allow her to thrive without feeling overwhelmed by noise or activity. Building a relationship with Dotty Bug will require time, patience, and low-pressure interaction. Sitting quietly in her presence and offering high-value food and engaging play sessions will help her feel more at ease and build trust over time. Dotty Bug thrives on acclimation time and a slow, gradual introduction to her new surroundings. Patience is key as she adjusts to her new environment and learns to trust her new family. A quiet confinement area will provide her with a safe space to retreat to as she navigates this transition period. In her new home, Dotty Bug will benefit from a variety of hiding places, both low and high. These hiding spots will give her the security she needs to feel safe and comfortable, allowing her to explore her surroundings at her own pace. Understanding and respecting her boundaries are essential to building a trusting relationship with her. Just a grab a secure cat carrier and ask an Adoption Counselor for more information!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
