Hello Future Family! My name is Sox and I'm just over 3 years old. As you can see, I get my name from the fact that I have cutest & fluffiest white sox on all four of my paws! I'm just super handsome, if I say so myself. If you look closely, you can see my beautiful black stripes and swirls on my almost black fur. I'm a Black Smoke Tuxedo Tabby! In addition to being extremely good-looking, I'm also friendly, playful, and affectionate. I love playing with wand toys and basking in a sun spot. I get along fairly well with other cats, as long as they are not the dominant, territorial type. I also love to snuggle. So, as you can see, I'm the purr-fect cat for you! 1.
Visit the Facility and Find a Pet

Visit our shelter and meet our wonderful and unique kitties! We're happy to answer any questions about our cats. Or call ahead 805-927-7377

2.
Submit Application

Look for the link to our online Adoption Application is further down this page. All applicants must be 18 years+ to adopt from the HART.

3.
Approve Application

Adoption applications will be reviewed by a HART staff member. HART reserves the right to deny an application per their discretion.

4.
Interview

During the Adoption Interview, we will discuss your living situation, your needs, and how you plan to provide a happy home for a cat.

5.
Sign Adoption Contract

Pay Fee

Adoption Fees: Kittens under 1 year old: $125, Cats 1- 8 years old: $99, Senior cats, 8 years or older: $69, Seniors for Seniors: $25

7.
Take the Pet Home

If you plan to adopt, please bring a carrier with you for your new kitty! Otherwise a cardboard carrier may be provided.

Additional adoption info

Prior to Adoption, all HART cats or kittens will have had:

*Spay or Neuter
*Vaccinations
*Worming, de-fleaing and de-miting
*A medical exam
*Microchip
*Collar and ID tag - your pet is registered with HART Health records
*Tips and guidelines for introducing your new pet into your home.
*A cardboard carrier - or you can bring your own carrier at the time of adoption.

We are located in Cambria on California’s beautiful central coast. Our address is 2638 Main Street, Cambria, CA. 93428. Our shelter is currently open Tuesday thru Saturday, 12pm - 5pm. If you plan to adopt, we prefer to process adoptions between 12-3pm to allocate enough time for the adoption process. Please call (805) 927-7377 with any questions or special requests. HART is a hands-on volunteer organization working to make a difference in our community of San Luis Obispo County by rescuing abandoned animals, trapping and neutering stray and feral cats, and fostering sick and needy animals until we can find the best matched homes for them. Our unique cage-fee shelter allows cats to roam freely and socialize with each other. We are a no-kill shelter.
