Stacy is a black and red Tortoiseshell female who has been around other cats and dogs with a slow introduction. She is affectionate, easy-going, friendly and playful. Stacy was born 4/2023 and poor Stacy was found abandoned. Stacey has a grade 3 out of 6 heart murmur on auscultation (listening to the heart). Heart murmurs in cats can develop due to many different reasons such as, but not limited to, congenital heart defects or cardiomyopathy, a disease of the heart muscle that makes it harder for the heart to pump blood to the rest of the body. Stacey was spayed at our facility and her post surgery recovery was uneventful, however, a heart murmur may place Stacey at an increased risk if placed under anesthesia for future surgeries. Pet Adoption Fees
CAP adoption fees include a variety of services - age-appropriate vaccinations, canine heartworm, and feline leukemia tests, spaying/neutering, deworming treatment, microchipping to name a few - the total value of which exceeds $450. These minimal adoption fees cover only part of each animal's stay at our shelter - please help us keep adoption fees low while maintaining the high quality of care for the animals in our charge by donating and/or volunteering.

A second dog or puppy, adopted within 30 days of the first adoption receives a $20 discount.

Any dog/puppy adopted at the same time as a cat/kitten will be adoptable at a $20 discount.

Citizens For Animal Protection, founded in 1972, is committed to sheltering, rescuing, and placing homeless animals in loving homes; advocating respect and compassion for all animal life; providing humane education to prevent animal cruelty; and raising awareness in the community of the needs of animals.

CAP is proud to announce that through life-saving adoption and transfer programs and a lot of hard work, we have maintained a placement rate of over 93% for all homeless pets surrendered to our shelter in 2021. In 2021, CAP provided care for 10,260 animals; this includes animals surrendered by the public and transferred in from animal control agencies and rescue groups, animals already in the shelter and foster care program, feral cats trapped/neutered/returned and animals receiving vaccinations and other treatments in our low-cost vaccination clinic, The Cornelius Clinic.
