My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Pete, a super handsome one-year-old, 40 lb. Labradoodle mix who was recently saved from a horrible situation. He, along with four other dogs, were rescued from a hoarding/breeding situation in NYC. The dogs were severely neglected, unsocialized, and hadn’t even been let outdoors since they were born. The fosters, who are located in New Jersey, have made tremendous progress with Pete and he’s finally ready to find his furever home!

Despite such a rough upbringing, Pete is such a happy dog who wants nothing more than to be with his people. He’s very affectionate and a great cuddler! Pete loves going on adventures, whether it be for a hike, a drive around town, or a visit to the park. He is a young, active, and energetic dog who requires adequate exercise, playtime, and enrichment – he walks remarkably well on leash considering he has never been trained.

Pete is great with other dogs and would be happiest with another pup. He has never been around cats but does have a parrot foster sibling. His ideal home would be one with an active family, fenced yard, and another doggie friend to play with. The fosters say that Pete is one of the nicest, sweetest, and well-mannered dogs they’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing.

He is a very good boy who has shown remarkable growth over the past two months. He is mostly housetrained and listens well and fast. He does get frightened easily outside at night time which just requires a little patience and care to calm him down. While he’s a doodle-type breed, Pete sheds mildly and benefits from frequent brushing. His hair does not seem to grow that fast, or get tangled, and is generally easy to keep groomed.

His adoption fee is $400 and Pete is vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm negative, and neutered. If you are interested in adopting this sweetheart, please complete the application at form.jotform.com/200883908893166. For questions, email info@happilyfureverafter.org.
