My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Fable is an adorable and energetic standard poodle mix puppy with an estimated birthdate of 09/27/2023. She came to the Mission from a rescue partner in Western Washington after being helped from a neglectful situation.

Despite Fable's neglectful start to life, she is a naturally happy-go-lucky puppy, who just wants to be part of a safe and loving family.

Fable adores everyone she meets young and old alike! She has acclimated to a busy household with ease. Fable is accustomed to living with a variety of animals including dogs, cats, chickens and two young boys. She has a low prey drive and as such is capable of living amongst a variety of animals with ease.

Fable's photos include a current shot of her getting groomed, and the condition she was in upon surrender.

Allow me to momentarily step up onto my soap box and preach:

Fable

[ fey-buhl ]

noun

a short tale to teach a moral lesson, often with animals or inanimate objects as characters.

Let her teach you a moral lesson about where your doodle comes from and what it looks like to be the product of a person who creates and sells sentient beings with a sole mission of profit.

*THERE ARE NO ETHICAL MUTT BREEDERS*

*THERE IS NO ETHICAL WAY TO BUY A DOODLE FROM A BREEDER*

*IF YOU CONTRIBUTE TO PAYING MONEY IN EXHCHANGE FOR A PUPPY NOT FROM A PRESERVATION BREEDER, THE BLOOD OF ANIMALS DYING FOR SPACE AND TIME IN THE SHELTER SYSTEM IS ON YOUR HANDS*

Now back to the details.

Fable has missed out on all early social exposure and healthy learning experiences, so while we are very fortunate that she's a naturally happy dog and is interested in connecting with people and learning, she is not leash trained, she's struggling with car sickness, she's fearful of mundane experiences, and she's prone to reactive barking. Fable will need a committed family who is not only willing to put in the time, but also to hold her accountable to continue to experience the world and gain confidence. If she is coddled and treated incapable by her future family, she will absolutely fail and become a fearful and reactive dog. Whoever has the honor of guiding Fable through her early years of life must be fully committed to developing her naturally happy self and not letting her lack of social experience drive her to a fear based future.

Fable has already overcome a double ear infection and UTI, because of her lack of confidence and her past medical negligence she is presently leaking urine when she is unsure or excited. In foster she wears a diaper when she is hanging out for long periods of time on a carpeted surface.

Fable is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and dewormed.  Her adoption fee is $300 and includes a leash, collar, harness, food sample, and medical records. To be considered to adopt Fable, please begin by visiting www.murcismission.org and sending in an application.

Thank you for checking out our girl. Thank you for committing to adoption and refusing to support unethical breeding practices.

More about this rescue

From the day we could talk we told our pets more than we ever told our parents. We took the long route to see the kitty in the window down the street. We stopped even when we were late to pet the dog. We grew up and we saw what the world does to those who can't defend themselves. We are here to change that.

Ethical rescue, including fully vetting every animal and carefully placing them all into homes matched to their physical and mental needs is what we do.

Respecting all life, both animal and human, while retaining an underlying goal of keeping animals in their homes. and fostering a sense of community between local shelters and rescues is how we do it.
