My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Adoption info can be found in the last paragraph of this pet's profile or by visiting this direct link:   https://www.dfwpuppatrol.com/info/adoption

Jack is a shy boy that is the absolute sweetest once he warms up. He was part of an abuse case and was confiscated along with his siblings when he was just a few months old. Jack warms up quicker with women than men, and definitely will need another dog in the home to play with. He LOVES other dogs, big or small. His favorite game is to get the other dogs to chase him. He is crate trained (he loves his crate and it is his safe place but he is fine being left out...he's not destructive at all) and potty trained. He loves to go for walks. He doesn't do fetch but will happily chew on his benebone or a bully stick and sometimes plays on his own with a stuffed toy. (He loves food, treats, chew bones...and also butt scratches.) Once he warms up he will give kisses and loves to cuddle on the couch or in bed. He will also happily sleep in his crate if his human prefers no dogs in the bed. Jack was born at the end of January 2022 and currently weighs right under 25 lbs. We think he is Dachshund, some kind of Terrier, and maybe some Chihuahua?? He has a very long, slim body but also longer legs than a Dachshund would have.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Applications are screened and references checked for both veterinarian and renters. Phone interview is conducted and if a potential match we will arrange a playdate. To move forward with a potential placement we require a home visit and introduce existing pets to the new pet. If successful a 72-hour home trial is mandatory. To give the applicant possession of the pet the applicant must fill out the Adoption Contract and pay the adoption fee. The contract and adoption fee is held for the 72-hour trial period. If placement is desired at the end of the trial period the organization signs and executes the contract. A copy of the contract along with medical records will then be forwarded to the adopter. 1 week, 1 month, 3 month, and 6 month follow-ups are conducted.
