My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sadie was with us before, in December of 2018, actually. She was adopted into a loving family, and for the past four years, life has been grand, with a loving family and other dogs to pal around with. Sadie will do best in a cat-free home.

But, because of changes in her owners' living arrangements, Sadie was returned to us.

Sadie is house trained, has nice manners and doesn't jump up on you or lick. Sadie knows "no" and "sit", loves to cuddle, enjoys going for a walk and does great on a leash. She is fantastic on car rides and loves to load up.

Sadie does best as the only dog. She would thrive in a home with a doggie door. She does not chew on things, she is quiet and respectful. She sleeps and waits patiently for her people to wake up. She loves to walk, but she is strong and can pull if something interesting is ahead. Walker needs to be strong enough to control her in those instances. She's a little shy at first but once she approves of you, she loves you! She is not really treat motivated but LOVES praise

Our Sadie is now about 6 years old. She tested negative for heart worms, is current on vaccinations and parasite preventives, and ready for her new leash on life! For more information, please email Stephens County Humane Society at info@stephenscountyshelter.com or call us at 580-252-7387 (PETS). Our animals are spayed/neutered, have age appropriate shots and are treated for fleas/ticks.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We use a simple adoption application/agreement. To complete the application process, we ask for reference letters from the adopting family's veterinarian and two character references. Adoption fees are $100.00 for dogs and $75.00 for cats. Fees include spay/neuter surgery, rabies vaccination and age appropriate vaccinations.

We have 3 main requirements for our dog adoptions.
1- We require a fenced yard
2- If you rent, we require a letter from the landlord stating
pets are permitted in their residence.
3- If you have dogs currently, arrangements must be
made for a meet and greet to ensure all parties are
agreeable.

More about this shelter

We are a Humane Society and Rescue organization serving Stephens County, Oklahoma and it's communities. We work closely with local municipal animal control departments in providing shelter to abandoned, abused, and surrendered animals, and finding homes for as many adoptable pets as we possibly can. We stress spaying and neutering as the one key way to prevent unwanted puppies and kittens.
