Meet Dove! This cutie is a 12 week old French bulldog/border collie mix that came to us from a commercial breeding facility in Lancaster county. She was given up because she was an "accident and not going to be able to be sold for a high enough rate for the puppy mill to even bother trying to sell her. To top it off, her and her siblings tested positive for Parvo virus upon arriving at our rescue.
We are very thankful that we got Dove and her siblings treated when we did because just 12 hours more could have been the difference between life and death with this devastating virus. Be on the lookout for an upcoming educational post on this topic of parvo virus, and how a new drug is changing the game in terms of survival
Dove is just as sweet as can be, and we are very excited to find her a forever home like her siblings. We think she is simply perfect... all the best parts of a French bulldog, but without any of the multitude of health issues that purebred French bulldogs typically have. She is estimated to be about 35 pounds full grown, based on size now (though this is just a guess), and have the signature border collie energy and intelligence!
As with all dogs we save from puppy mills, they will need a family who is understanding and prepared to work through a period of transition with them as they learn to live in a house and around people. They will need time to trust their new family before working on training, such as house training. This should go without saying, but we require all our animals to be trained using positive reinforcement methods ONLY.
