My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Ziggy!

Are you ready to welcome a majestic Tibetan Mastiff into your life? Ziggy, our 11-month-old Tibetan Mastiff, is seeking a patient and understanding family who appreciates the unique characteristics of his breed.

Tibetan Mastiffs, known for their impressive size and fluffy coats, have a rich history as guardians of Himalayan villages and monasteries. Ziggy displays breed typical behaviors such as aloofness to new people (with the help of cookies we can be friends), thriving on routine, doing best with a big space (inside and yard), and being protective of his space.

As a puppy, Ziggy fractured his leg, which did not heal properly, causing his leg to turn out to the side. He may have also had a fracture(s) in the elbow. This in turn is causing arthritis in his elbow. Ziggy will need to be on joint supplements and pain meds for the duration of his life. This gentle giant requires a home where his physical needs will be met with compassion and care!

Ziggy thrives in calm environments and enjoys lounging in comfortable spaces. Despite his imposing stature, he has a quiet demeanor and appreciates quiet companionship. Short, relaxed walks suit him best, allowing him to explore at his own pace. He would greatly benefit from a large yard, preferably fenced, as he likes to spend most of his time outside! With that being said, he can hop short fences, so suprivised time together is a must.

Ziggy has gotten along with other larger dogs his size but is dog-selective. A person with experience in large dog breeds and a little dog household would set Ziggy up for success.

Ziggy is an all-star dog, and his adoption appointment includes a discussion with the training team, as well as a few enrichment goodies to help get you both off to a good start. To learn more about Ziggy or to schedule an appointment to meet him, please email info@ahconnects.org (including your name and phone number), and the staff will be happy to assist you.

Our dogs and puppies go home spayed/neutered, microchipped, heartworm tested (7 months and over), and up to date on core vaccines, heartworm, flea, and tick preventatives. Their adoption also includes a free-vet exam at one of our participating veterinarians.
