My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Libby is an almost 5 yr old mill survivor shih tzu who is living in a home with 2 other small dogs. She was very timid and nervous when she came to the rescue but is slowly coming out of her shell.  Playing with her foster siblings and her foster mom is her new thing. Most of the time Libby prefers to be on her own in her quiet corner but she has been venturing out to see what everyone else is doing and asking to be petted.  She loves to have her ears and butt scratched.

Libby has been vetted and is up to date.. She had pancreatitis when she first came, but with medication and a low fat diet she has made a full recovery.

Going for walks in the good weather is something Libby enjoys; she walks along beside you and does not pull on the leash.  She enjoys going for car rides and usually settles down quickly and goes to sleep.  Libby is still uncomfortable being picked up and held, but has gotten much better about it and with more time, will learn that she is safe and loved.

At night, Libby likes to start out in a crate with the door open, but will often move to a bed beside her foster mom.  In the morning, she will ask for her ears to be rubbed and scratched.  She is pee pad trained, but is going outside more often to do her business now.

A forever home with another small dog would be ideal for Libby and she definitely needs people who are going to be home much of the time to provide her with the care and love she deserves.  She has not been around cats or small children. She would most likely be fine with cats.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Our process begins with an online pre adoption questionnaire followed by a telephone interview
Once both have been completed we consider suitability and if we feel the adoption candidate is a potential match we arrange a meet and greet with the dog you are interested in
From there we schedule a home visit and check personal and veterinary references.

Go meet their pets

All our dogs are in foster homes so meet and greets are by appointment only

Foster Homes
Sadly, each new day brings a flood of emails and telephone pleas to help yet another abandoned dear dog. We try and help these displaced dogs through our rescue efforts and networking. We are always in search of new foster homes where a dog can be cared for and loved until a permanent home is found. Speaking of Dogs Rescue covers food, medical attention and all the supplies required for the dogs in foster care. Foster parents need be responsible and patient people who will provide a safe environment for our dogs. A foster contract must be signed. This is a serious responsibility; however the experience is very rewarding. If you can open your heart and home to a foster dog please contact us. We have a comprehensive Foster Manual available for people who are considering becoming a foster parent.
