My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Introducing Dolly. Dolly was dumped on a busy highway in San Ysidro. She came to us scared and untouchable. We saw the beauty and potential in her eyes, so spent the next month gaining her trust. We began to see the excited little girl stuck under that street smart façade. Dolly began to trust and lean in to our love. Dolly is now ready to move on to her furrever home. She is still new to this whole love and people thing so will need a savvy adopter or someone with the willingness to work with her. She is shy but very loving and silly when she’s comfortable. We don’t think she is house-trained but she only goes potty in one area of her pen, so training should be fairly easy. She’s not been in a house yet, so will need a little patience there. NMDOG will sponsor her to get more training and help with any support her new adopter will need to help her transition from a street dog to treasured family member.
Dolly is a cattle/bully dog mix and is about 7-9 months old. She is spayed, up to date on all vaccines, microchipped, and heartworm-negative.
Dolly seems to be afraid of larger dogs but is doing well with a smaller dog. She loves her toys and does really well with children. Seems to bond to them first. We have not tried her with cats.
She is a digger so she will need a well-fenced yard.
One of the sweetest things is that when you hold her in your arms she melts into you.

Additional adoption info

All of our animals are completely cared for with vet services before adopted unless they are too young, i.e., under 6 months old. An application is required that is reviewed by our board for approval before visiting the animal. If there is a match between people, their family, their animals and our animal, then they can take the animal home at that time. We DO require an adoption donation that varies based on the age of the animal and whether the animal has been neutered or not.

More about this rescue

We are a very small no-kill rescue group in the Northern New Mexico Jemez Mountains. We dont' have a shelter, but rely upon foster homes for our rescued animals. We won the NM's Milagro award in 06 for our excellence in direct animal services. While we might be small, we are mighty and impressive in our efforts to better the lives for the animals we take in. Established in 2001, we were incorporated in 2002 in NM as a non-profit and obtained our IRS tax free 501 c 3 status in 2003. Any donations to us are tax deductible.
