Lil and Phil were just 5 weeks old when they were picked up by animal control and taken to an underfunded, overcrowded shelter. Upon arrival, it was discovered that each of these babies was missing half a leg. They were able to determine by the smoothness of the bone that the legs had been cut off. Lacking the resources to fix the half-amputated legs of Phil and Lil, they reached out to us for help. We are so fortunate to work closely with a board-certified orthopedic surgeon. He examined the pups to see if they would be candidates for prosthetics. Unfortunately, neither of the pups had enough bone and flesh left to properly fit a prosthetic. However, both pups had sores on their stumps from dragging/balancing them. These sores are a major source of infection which will happen over and over again. The best course of action for these pups was to completely amputate the affected legs. Phil and Lil are both fully recovered from their amputations and both are completely unaware that they are "special needs" tripods. Phil and Lil are now looking for their forever homes with families who wont see them as gimps, less than, or disabled. They can, run, jump, play, snuggle, and love just like any of their 4-legged friends. If you think you think you might be a specially-abled human worthy of a tripods love, you can apply on our website at HVARS.org Primary Color: Charcoal Weight: 29 Age: 0yrs 5mths 3wks
