My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Patches was discovered as a stray in the Coachella Valley. A Good Samaritan took her in and called Southpaw Rescue. It was obvious when we got her that she had been in some sort of altercation with one or more dogs. She suffered from abscessed bit wounds all over her body. There has been some sort of trauma to her her face, causing her to be blind in one eye and most likely impaired in the other. She also has a slight head tilt, which seems to be correcting itself.

We treated Patches wounds and pyometra, which thankfully was discovered early. She has been spayed, microchipped and vaccinated.

Patches is currently being fostered in a home with other dogs. She can be adopted into a home with mellow dogs and also would be okay as a single dog.

She has learned to get around with her impaired eye sight, but is still marked special needs because of this.

Their adoption process

1.

Submit Application

Whether a potential adopter meets the dog at an adoption event or sees them online, we need an adoption application to begin the process

2.

Interview

The second step is a phone call so I can tell the adopter all about the dog, and find out more about their lifestyle.

3.

Home Check

The most important step! All members of the house hold need to be there. I check the yard and the home.

4.

Sign Adoption Contract

We let them know we will keep the dog chipped to us and that if they can't keep the dog, he/she comes back to us. Adoption fee is collected

5.

Take the Pet Home

We check in with a couple days, a couple weeks and a month after they adopt to make sure the dog is adjusting well and give any help needed

Additional adoption info

Step 1 - submit an application
Step 2 - Have a phone interview
Step 3 - Home check
Step 4 - Sign adoption contract
Step 5 - Take your new family member home.
