My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi y’all – I’m Ginger. I recently relocated to Minnesota from Alabama in the hope of a better life and so far I have not been let down! Alabama was tough for me – I was abandoned in a remote forest as a puppy. They say I was skin and bones when they found me. Luckily, I found my way into a place called “rescue” where I stayed in Alabama getting healthy again until I was able to hitch a ride “Up North.” The move was scary, but I’m sooooo glad to be here. It took me a day to get comfortable in my foster home, and I show my fosters how thankful I am to be here by showering them with tiny kisses every chance I get. I live with a man, a woman, and a grouchy senior dog. She lets me know when my teenage puppy tendencies get to be a little too much for her, and I respect that (but I would LOVE a social circle of dog friends to play with). I hang out in my crate overnight and when my fosters are away – you know, I don’t mind it. I get treats for going in there and don’t make a peep until they let me out. It’s my "me" time to relax.

Walks were a little scary at first because I don’t have much experience with City life, but I’m curious and that’s helping me get more comfortable on them. The squirrels also help – those things are fascinating!!! Nothing would make me happier than helping chase them out of the yard for you. I know that I need to do my potty jobs outside, have had no accidents (yay me!), and even paw at the door sometimes to say I need to go out. My fosters are surprised at how long I can hold it. Once I’m out, it can take me a little time to find the perfect spot so a fenced yard is best for me right now while I continue to figure things out. My fosters say I’m a nice medium size and a good balance of playful and chill – I throw toys to myself so I can catch and prance around with them and love playing ball in the yard, but also settle in for a couch snooze or some window gazing during their workday. If you’re looking for a new friend, I’d love to show you my ball, give you tiny kisses, and help you with your squirrels 😃

All our Warrior Dogs will have all age appropriate medical care and vaccines, a microchip, and spayed/neutered if the dog is over 6 months of age at the time of adoption.

Please note that the majority of our dogs in rescue are from shelters where they have been found as strays or abandoned. Their breed description is based on our very best educated guess based on physical characteristics and their dispositions. If they came to our rescue as an owner surrender, the breed description will be listed as provided by the previous owner.

More about this rescue

The mission of Warrior Dog Rescue is to save the dogs that are homeless, left abandoned in shelters, are surrendered by their owners, those that are being abused and neglected, and those that are left wandering. We are committed to providing them the medical care they need, helping them to overcome their past by providing them loving, educated foster homes, finding them their perfect forever home by means of a thorough adoption process, and guiding them on their journey into their new life. They all deserve a “good dog life… every single one of them.”

Warrior Dog Rescue will be a model rescue by partnering with overcrowded shelters that need to make room for more abandoned dogs. We will continue to educate others about responsible dog ownership in regards to safety, spay/neuter, nutrition, obedience, socializing, abuse, and neglect. We acknowledge that we will have a role in this industry to take the lead on providing awareness to others in the community and across the country. Every dog will know what it feels like to be loved till the end of their life.
