My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Buddy is a big ole baby that just wants to play, play, play! Buddy& Mama were unwanted. They were so confused going back to the noisy kennels but that didn’t stop either of them from giving me a big smile when I walked by. They like chickens a little too much so they ended up at the Newberry County Animal Shelter SC. Buddy loves to run outside & zoom by you for a quick pet. He is 2 yrs old, weighs 52 lbs & is a lab/plott hound mix. Heartworm negative. This very friendly boy loves to tease you into playing with him.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Our adoption fees are: $85.00 for dogs/puppies that includes the spay/neuter, shots brought up to date, deworming, heartworm test, heartworm preventative, and microchip. Cats/kittens are $65.00 that includes spay/neuter, feline leukemia test, shots and deworming. We require that you complete an adoption application and meet with the adoption coordinator to pick out the right pet for your family. If you have pets in your home we require a vet reference. We will also need permission from your landlord if you rent. Once you have found your pet you will be entered into a contract to make sure that the pet is always provided for.

More about this shelter

We are a small group in a small rural town. Our shelter has only 6 employees, 1 manager, 2 officers and 1 adoption coordinator, and 2 part time Kennel Att. Our shelter has been here for many years and is an older facility. We moved to the "New" shelter in November 2013. We can usually house about 25 cats/kittens and around 85 dogs/puppies. With it only being 5 of us, we are always in need of volunteers and welcome anytime that is offered to us. Donations are always needed also, bleach, blankets, towels, dish detergant, laundry detergent, cleaners, cat and dog toys (washable), food and water bowls, canned food, dry food (puppy and adult). We all enjoy our jobs here and hold it dear to our hearts, we are blessed to be able to speak for those who cannot speak for themselves.
