Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Lotus is no delicate flower. She is faster than a speeding bullet and able to leap tall buildings in a single bound. Not really, but you get the general idea. She is more than capable of jumping five-foot fences though and enjoys it a lot. She is energetic and excitable. She weighs 37 pounds and likes running and toys. She knows the sit command but is still working on house training so please be patient with her. She arrived as a stray but stayed several weeks in a foster home. She is easygoing, friendly, and playful with other dogs. The highlight of a walk is seeing one and she'll bark and eagerly pull to try to reach it. She hasn't been around children. She is a lap-loving social butterfly who has been patiently waiting for a home of her own. Please consider making lovable Lotus part of your family. (tw 5/20/2024)

Pet Adoption Fees
CAP adoption fees include a variety of services - age-appropriate vaccinations, canine heartworm, and feline leukemia tests, spaying/neutering, deworming treatment, microchipping to name a few - the total value of which exceeds $450. These minimal adoption fees cover only part of each animal's stay at our shelter - please help us keep adoption fees low while maintaining the high quality of care for the animals in our charge by donating and/or volunteering.

A second dog or puppy, adopted within 30 days of the first adoption receives a $20 discount.

Citizens For Animal Protection, founded in 1972, is committed to sheltering, rescuing, and placing homeless animals in loving homes; advocating respect and compassion for all animal life; providing humane education to prevent animal cruelty; and raising awareness in the community of the needs of animals.

CAP is proud to announce that through life-saving adoption and transfer programs and a lot of hard work, we have maintained a placement rate of over 93% for all homeless pets surrendered to our shelter in 2021. In 2021, CAP provided care for 10,260 animals; this includes animals surrendered by the public and transferred in from animal control agencies and rescue groups, animals already in the shelter and foster care program, feral cats trapped/neutered/returned and animals receiving vaccinations and other treatments in our low-cost vaccination clinic, The Cornelius Clinic.
