My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Duke was brought in by his previous owner on February 27, 2024.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Meet Duke, a spirited guy in search of his new home! This handsome boy is full of energy and enthusiasm, always ready for an adventure. While Duke may be a bit jumpy and mouthy at times, he's eager to learn and would thrive with positive reinforcement training. He can get a little overexcited, so he's looking for a patient and understanding family who can provide plenty of physical and mental enrichment to channel his energy positively. Duke can be a bit wary of strangers, so he would do best in an adult-only home. Otherwise, children must be 14+ years old. For Duke, a small household in a calm and quiet environment would be ideal. All members of the household must be present to speak with our trainer prior to adoption, ensuring the best possible match for Duke's needs. If you're ready to welcome this energetic guy into your life, Duke can't wait to meet you!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
