My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Please go to our website at www.milehighlabmission.com to find out more about this pet and to submit an adoption application.

Please DO NOT call or email us; all information about current dogs available, adoption donations, vetting, and this specific dog are on our website.

We are a non-profit organization and we are completely 100% volunteer run.

We DO NOT have a shelter and only approved applicants can make appointments with our foster homes to meet the dogs we have.

Our volunteers will not discuss dogs we have available for adoption UNTIL you have an application on file and are approved to adopt.

General Notes | Dabo is a shy girl who LOVES her people!

Personality | Dabo is a shy but extremely beautiful lab who takes some time to warm up to people. But, once she does, she is a total love! She is very calm, has never shown any type of aggression with other dogs or foster's children. She is great in the car, hops right in for you, and is calm for the ride. Her previous foster said that she had been learning to play with toys, and current foster (as of 4/20)  is still in the "warm up" phase with her, but she is showing more confidence each day and found some stuffed animals that she loved to play with (without any destructive behaviors).

Story | We are unsure of her full history, but know she was with an irresponsible breeder in Texas and likely was not exposed to much interaction with humans. Her fosters have given her lots of time and patience to ensure she learns that humans are trustworthy and that she deserves a wonderful life.

Other Dogs | Excellent. She would likely do well with another dog (or a few!) to show her how to live the good life with humans, but she is currently the only dog in her foster's home and is doing well on her own, too.

Cats | Unknown, but she does not seem prey driven at all. She would likely do great with cats, but needs to be tested with them.

Children | When they are calm and approach slowly, she enjoys their pets. Foster's 5 and 8 year olds have been very patient to ensure she is not afraid of children. She would do best with older children just due to her timidness around loud noises/being approached quickly, but each family is different.

Training | She is not super food motivated due to her trust issues, but with time and patience, she will definitely warm up and accept treats, which means she will be able to start learning commands. She is completely housebroken, doesn't need to be crated (but has been and handles it well), and she sleeps through the night no problem.

Leash | a little timid at first, but walks well and does not pull. Will be a great walking and hiking buddy!

Activity Level | moderately active - doesn't need a lot of activity to remain calm while foster works from home. She will have no problem going on long walks/runs/hikes.

Health Notes |  Excellent health - that shiny coat is just as soft and silky as you'd imagine!

Thank you!

Adoption Donations |  Our adoption donations are $475 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $425 for 1-6 years, $375 for dogs 7-10 years, and $250 for 11+ years of age. Purebred dogs regardless of age are $525. These minimum donations help to defer the costs of initial vet care, food, and supplies while in foster care that currently average over $700 per dog).

Meeting Dogs | Foster dogs may have meet & greets by appointment to approved applicants only.  To become an approved applicant - please complete the application process.

Please know | Available dogs are updated as soon as possible and we do our best to keep it up-to-date, but occasionally dogs shown may become unavailable without notice due to a pending adoption.

We encourage you to put in an application even if you don't see your new family member currently, as once you are approved, we can place you on the waiting list for first priority on the selection of the dogs we do bring in. That means you can often meet a dog upon transport arrival and adopt before they even make it to this page!

We can not guarantee that a dog you wish to adopt is available by the time your adoption application is submitted, processed, and approved.  Your application is good for 90 days from the time of approval for any dog as long as it is a good fit for your family and your lifestyle.
